This document discusses the Gir cattle breed, which originated in the Gir forests of Gujarat, India. It has various names including Desan, Gujarati, Kathiawari, Sorthi, and Surati. Gir cattle have a white coat with red or brown patches, or can be purely black or red. Their horns curve inward in a half-moon shape. Gir cows produce between 1200-1800 kgs of milk, with their first calving from 45-54 months and calving intervals of 515 to 600 days.
