Sauce ingredients:
-12 toasted almonds
-10 hazelnuts
-1 head of garlic
-5 peppers
-2 ripe tomatoes
-1 cup of olive oil *Calçots: mild onion
-salt and pepper
-1/2 cup of vinegar
-1 slice of bread fried
-1 slice of chilli (if you like)
8. Panellets are often accompanied by

cakes in different shapes, mostly
round, made mainly of mazipan (a
paste made of almonds and sugar).
Panellets or "little bread" are the
traditional dessert of the All
Saints holiday, the Castanyada, The most popular are
in Catalonia. the panellets covered
with pine nuts, and
varnished with egg
white.

9. Tradicions: ‘Human Valls, near the city
• The tradition of building castells originated in
towerS’
of Tarragona, in the southern part of Catalonia towards the end of the 18th
century. Later it developed a following in other regions of Catalonia and,
since 1981, when the first castell of 9 levels of the 20th century was built.
• A castell is a human tower built traditionally in festivals at many locations
in Catalonia. At these festivals, several colles castelleres or teams often
succeed in building and dismantling a tower's structure. On November 16,
2010, castells were declared byUNESCO to be amongst
the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible
Heritage of Humanity.

11. Castells in Tarragona
• In Tarragona there are four teams.
• In our school some students take part in Colla Sant Pere i Sant Pau
(green shirts) and one of the English teachers in Colla Jove Xiquets
de Tarragona (purple shirts) .
12. Competition
• In our city we make a Castells competiotion every two years with the
best Colles Castelleres (teams) of the moment. It is an amazing
show.
• This year the winners are Castellers de Vilafranca.
