The Exotic breed was developed from Persians but have short fur, while the Maine Coon originated in Maine and was first mentioned in literature in 1861, known for its long shaggy coat. 3. Other popular breeds in the top 10 included the Siamese, known for blue eyes and light bodies with colored points; the Ragdoll, a large laid-back breed with blue eyes; and the Abyssinian, one of the oldest known breeds that may trace back thousands of years.
