What is a case study?
A case study is a story with a
(hidden) message a narrative that
describes an actual, or realistic
situation in which an individual or group
has to make a decision or solve a
problem(Roy Killen 2013).
 Roy Killen (2013) stated that case
study will be complete in the sense
that they describe fully the situation
and its real-life conclusion.
 In this sense, an incomplete case is
one that describes real events up to a
point, but does not include the real
outcome of these events.
Some case studies are open in the
sense that there are many possible
solutions or actions that could be
recommended; other’s are closed in
the sense that is a single best
response.
It is a comprehensive study, it covers a wide
span of time.
The number of units may vary from single unit
to a few dozen. They are not selected
according to some scientific technique of
sampling.
 Define the problem through asking questions
or taking down note the important details.
 Formulate alternative solutions to solve the
problem.
 Analyze alternatives in terms of strength and
weaknesses (SWOT analysis)
 Alternatives accepted recommended action.
 Evaluative- to provide decision makers with
information in order to evaluate a program or
an institutions.
 Educational- to understand an educational
action.
 Ethnographic-to study from an outsider’s
view, emphasizing causal or structural
patterns of the actor.
 Action Research-To study the development
of a case, using a feedback to revision of an
action.
The case studies tend to focus on student
evaluating the actions of the people involved in
the case.
Case studies focus more on having students
develop their own solutions to the problems or
issues described in the case, Roy Killen (2013).
Case Study develop analytical thinking.
Everyone is engaged in a case study.
Develop strategic planning.
Case study is a single-base research
It is very difficult to identify the cause and
effect of the problem.
Not at all case studies derive to a good
conclusion.
I.STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
Absenteeism
II.DEFINITION OF THE PROBLEM
 Not came to class attitudes is
synonymous with absenteeism, but it
happens often clearly visible in front
of our eyes. It does not matter of the
school environment, the employment
problem will occur. This is because a
few individuals who are fond of this
kind of attitude lightly upon
themselves.
 And at the same time some individual
take these attitudes simply on
themselves, they feel it just the small
thing but they doesn’t realize that
these kinds of attitudes were create a
bad trough their future.
Aside that, we as a researcher
takes a move head in eradicating this
problem. We can see clearly about
absenteeism student from the class.
From the information we get for some
lecturer, is that sometimes the absent
from the class is half. Here we know
that these problem is very serous.
This study aimed to determine the
causes of absenteeism
1. To study the factor that effect of the
student absenteeism.
2. To measure what kind of gender
that is most critically in absenteeism.
3. To give suggestions and solutions
for further improvement towards
absenteeism.
Absence now a days cannot be
separated from the individual who was
called a student. Absence of
phenomena, it is easy to see even
likened it has become a necessity in the
nature of students. So it is not surprising
if this habit continues to fall proceeds
among school students as examples of
primary, secondary and even at
university level, the problem still persists.
 Illness due to lack of hygiene
facilities.
 The financial position of the family is
also a reason.
 Due to dual environment also they
get absent.
 As their exams are over so they get
absent.
Clean the hygienic facilities of the
school that causes illness of the
students.
The attendance of the class will always
be recorded before and after the
exams.
Explain to the class why their presence
is a must.
The student who have financial
difficulties must apply the scholarship.
I therefore conclude that absences
of the students cannot be solved.
Without the help of the adviser as
well as guardian of the student. To in
lighten their minds and help them to
be responsible for their studies.
Mark is in grade 8 at Cedric A. Cumlat
Memorial Institute Inc. he frequently
commits absences and escapes from
classes every time he go to school. The
teachers do not conduct home visitation
instead they are criticizing students in front
of many, When I asked Mark at night he told
thus that humiliating them, about such send
the students to do janitorial responsibilities
like cleaning the swimming pool, cleaning
the comfort rooms and cleaning the ground,
Which he does not like give more
importance to the surroundings rather
than academic one and many of them
can says that the class being postpone
due to the general cleaning because of
the evaluation of the visitors and the
requirements of the teachers are to do
general cleaning every day, the second
reason is that the school facilities are
not conducive for learning they are
lack of computers
and other facilities in computer
laboratory like printer, keyboard,
projector no electrification and no
proper ventilations in every classroom,
As what Mark emphasized that the
facilities are for the students who are
near to the school and the computers
are old every time want to used it he
don’t have an access to the school
laboratory,
that’s why he recognized their school
as the most lowest school when it
comes to the facilities, the third reason
is that the attitudes and behaviors of
the teachers, As what Mark experience
that the teachers shout to him during
class hours which the teacher tells
him do not go to school because you
already failed the subject,
And he stated that the teachers are
having their own rules in teaching they
are not giving chances to the students
like Mark to give some projects and
assignment for additional grades as
well as the others and actually as what
he says that their teachers are the
leader of bullying in their learning
areas,
In this statement he says that once he
inter the classroom many criticism he
heard from the teacher like giving the
scores in examination in oral, insulted
by the teacher alone
for he is the best player but he is not
knowledgeable inside the classroom
which he emphasized also that their
school is not a child friendly school
instead they can learned what is right
they have chance to go out and hang
on.
 The school are open to follow-up
students if you are a relatives of any of
them.
 The school are strong commitment
and sharing to increasing parental
confidence.
 The school are curriculum updated and actively
participating in any activities outside the for
corner of the campus.
The staff unstated the clear roles and
regulation of the school.
No partnership activities between
parents and teachers.
The school owner do not asked
opinions and suggestions from the
students in projects and activities in
school.
The teachers are not highly skilled in
teaching and some of them are not
LET passers.
Active committees in every subjects
like joining the clubs.
Active in sports and equipped by
knowledge through participating in any
group study.
Team building activities done by the
SBO must be participated by the
students.
Risk Confidentiality
Students must not force to do things
which they don’t want.
The objectives in these case study are
to give importance to the students who
are suffering these kind of problem, to
discuss about the possible solution
about Mark’s reason in absences and
cutting classes. to evaluate the subject
teachers and some observation in the
school.
I asked permission to do observation
during class hour which Mark is included
and the strategies of the teachers in every
subjects, I look for the bulletin board for
any organization in the school, Mark stated
his reason of absences and cutting classes
to the teachers, we talk to his subject
teachers for any opinion together with the
parents as what the teachers stated they
will give chance to Mark to pass the
subjects,
regarding on their behavior of the
teachers they do controlling their
behavior in dealing with the students,
in regarding with the facilities in
computer laboratory the school owner
will buy the things, the school owner
will add personnel in cleaning the pool
C.R. and the ground.
Recommendation and conclusion of
this case study
The teacher should undergo vigorous
training through dealing with the
students.
The school sends a memo for those
teachers are very strict in teaching and
add janitorial workers to work for
cleaning.
Exhausting that Mark trying to focus in
academic to get his credit in playing
varsities next year and he goes mellow
in reading and writing his assignment
with and open mindedness, and having
the good relation with the teachers and
school administrators and
disciplinarian.

  • 13. I.STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM Absenteeism II.DEFINITION OF THE PROBLEM
  • 14.  Not came to class attitudes is synonymous with absenteeism, but it happens often clearly visible in front of our eyes. It does not matter of the school environment, the employment problem will occur. This is because a few individuals who are fond of this kind of attitude lightly upon themselves.
  • 15.  And at the same time some individual take these attitudes simply on themselves, they feel it just the small thing but they doesn’t realize that these kinds of attitudes were create a bad trough their future.
  • 16. Aside that, we as a researcher takes a move head in eradicating this problem. We can see clearly about absenteeism student from the class. From the information we get for some lecturer, is that sometimes the absent from the class is half. Here we know that these problem is very serous.
  • 17. This study aimed to determine the causes of absenteeism 1. To study the factor that effect of the student absenteeism. 2. To measure what kind of gender that is most critically in absenteeism. 3. To give suggestions and solutions for further improvement towards absenteeism.
  • 18. Absence now a days cannot be separated from the individual who was called a student. Absence of phenomena, it is easy to see even likened it has become a necessity in the nature of students. So it is not surprising if this habit continues to fall proceeds among school students as examples of primary, secondary and even at university level, the problem still persists.

  • 21. I therefore conclude that absences of the students cannot be solved. Without the help of the adviser as well as guardian of the student. To in lighten their minds and help them to be responsible for their studies.
  • 22. Mark is in grade 8 at Cedric A. Cumlat Memorial Institute Inc. he frequently commits absences and escapes from classes every time he go to school. • 23. Which he does not like give more importance to the surroundings rather than academic one and many of them can says that the class being postpone due to the general cleaning because of the evaluation of the visitors and the requirements of the teachers are to do general cleaning every day, the second reason is that the school facilities are not conducive for learning they are lack of computers
  • 24. and other facilities in computer laboratory like printer, keyboard, projector no electrification and no proper ventilations in every classroom, As what Mark emphasized that the facilities are for the students who are near to the school and the computers are old every time want to used it he don’t have an access to the school laboratory,
  • 25. that’s why he recognized their school as the most lowest school when it comes to the facilities, the third reason is that the attitudes and behaviors of the teachers, As what Mark experience that the teachers shout to him during class hours which the teacher tells him do not go to school because you already failed the subject,
  • 26. And he stated that the teachers are having their own rules in teaching they are not giving chances to the students like Mark to give some projects and assignment for additional grades as well as the others and actually as what he says that their teachers are the leader of bullying in their learning areas,
  • 27. In this statement he says that once he inter the classroom many criticism he heard from the teacher like giving the scores in examination in oral, insulted by the teacher alone
  • 28. for he is the best player but he is not knowledgeable inside the classroom which he emphasized also that their school is not a child friendly school instead they can learned what is right they have chance to go out and hang on.

  • 31.  The school are curriculum updated and actively participating in any activities outside the for corner of the campus.
  • 32. The staff unstated the clear roles and regulation of the school. No partnership activities between parents and teachers.
  • 33. The school owner do not asked opinions and suggestions from the students in projects and activities in school. The teachers are not highly skilled in teaching and some of them are not LET passers.
  • 34. Active committees in every subjects like joining the clubs. Active in sports and equipped by knowledge through participating in any group study. Team building activities done by the SBO must be participated by the students.
  • 35. Risk Confidentiality Students must not force to do things which they don’t want.
  • 36. The objectives in these case study are to give importance to the students who are suffering these kind of problem, to discuss about the possible solution about Mark’s reason in absences and cutting classes. to evaluate the subject teachers and some observation in the school.
  • 37. I asked permission to do observation during class hour which Mark is included and the strategies of the teachers in every subjects, I look for the bulletin board for any organization in the school, Mark stated his reason of absences and cutting classes to the teachers, we talk to his subject teachers for any opinion together with the parents as what the teachers stated they will give chance to Mark to pass the subjects,
  • 38. regarding on their behavior of the teachers they do controlling their behavior in dealing with the students, in regarding with the facilities in computer laboratory the school owner will buy the things, the school owner will add personnel in cleaning the pool C.R. and the ground.
  • 39. Recommendation and conclusion of this case study The teacher should undergo vigorous training through dealing with the students. The school sends a memo for those teachers are very strict in teaching and add janitorial workers to work for cleaning.
  • 40. Exhausting that Mark trying to focus in academic to get his credit in playing varsities next year and he goes mellow in reading and writing his assignment with and open mindedness, and having the good relation with the teachers and school administrators and disciplinarian.
