The Youth Guide was first implemented in the Summer of 2015 as a “Summer Guide” and we decided it would be useful for students to have year-round. The guide incorporates most of the tools for students that we’re going to see throughout this presentation.
Also available to download as a PDF.
This is one of the CIS tools that will be highlighted in our Part 2 session.
The difference:
Illinois Pathways breaks each Career Cluster down into specific Career Pathways and students can see courses and credentials needed to start preparing for that career.
Careers, Wages, and Trends focuses on what is needed to enter a specific career.
This tool is something you could use in class and have students complete as “exercises”.
Brings in other tools from Illinois workNet: Skill & Interest Surveys, Resume Builder, Career Exploration, Articles, and Videos.
Career prep can start as early as a teach would like to introduce it. Knowing how to create a resume and apply for a job by the time they can work at 16 will help students succeed outside of the classroom
Save time and money by using our marketing materials. These outreach materials, convey a professional image and are customizable so you may include local services.
Marketing materials are available to all Local Workforce Boards and Areas, partner organizations, and community partners. Also, don’t forget to link to Illinois workNet social media. That way, we can also follow you and share across the network of customers, employers and partners! Find links to all of our social sites at the very bottom of this page.
