• Great Hollow Middle School
• My shadowing experience was fun and I learned a lot. I learned
that in college you go for your masters or bachelors, and do a
lot of observing and student teaching. I learned what type of
things special education teachers do during the day and
throughout the year. They have to do a lot of paperwork, and
keep records on all their students and keep the parents
informed of how they are doing. They make up IEP reports and
goals for the students. I learned you have to be whatever the
student needs at that time, and most of the time you don’t get
to do what you need to do, because the student needs
something else. I learned that you can have your own class
with only your kids, or you might just be in the class with a
regular teacher and help your kids out, an inclusion class.
There is sometimes stress, because you have to form into what
the kid needs at that time. I learned that it can be exciting at
times and eventful.
