Introduction
 Cheryl C. Moore, MD, currently serves as a
clinical pathologist at Frisbie Memorial Hospital in
Rochester, New Hampshire. In addition to her
day-to-day medical work, Dr. Cheryl C. Moore
maintains membership in several related
professional organizations, including the College
of American Pathologists.
The College of American Pathologists recently
released a wide-ranging survey of literature
regarding the Zika virus in the January issue of its
medical journal, Archives of Pathology &
Laboratory Medicine.

 Ten total pieces were published by experts on the
disease, outlining its evolution from 1947 until the
current day. This is the first time the virus has been
the specific focus in any type of medical peer-
reviewed journal.
Some of the articles published in the issue include
"Zika Virus: Pathology from the Pandemic," "Placental
Pathology of the Zika Virus," "Laboratory Diagnosis of
Zika Virus Infection," and "Zika and the Blood Supply:
A Work in Progress." Other works focus on the origins
of the disease and how it was discovered, as well as
the specific elements of its biology and impact on the
central nervous system.
