Cantor Fitzgerald, a global financial services firm, acquired Chapel Hill Broadband, a closely-held broadband brokerage firm, to expand its wholesale broadband commodity brokerage offerings. The acquisition allows Cantor Fitzgerald to broker both physical fiber-optic infrastructure assets as well as commoditized telecom products, positioning it as a leader in the growing wholesale telecom markets. Brent Wilkins, former president of Chapel Hill Broadband, will become managing director of Cantor Fitzgerald's new telecom group, operating out of offices in New York City and Cary, North Carolina.
