Editor's Notes
Good morning everyone, my name is zenghu , he is my partner Daisuke. We’re glad to make this presentation. The subject is Canada Day.
(I’m glad to introduce Canada Day with Daisuke.)
Do you know what is Canada Day? Maybe you know. But I didn’t know before this week. When I saw these words, I thought maybe they meaned every day of Canada. Of course, not. There are too many days, how to introduce? I don’t know. The correct answer is the birthday of Canada.
Under the federal Holidays Act, Canada Day is observed on July 1. If that date falls on a Sunday, July 2 is the statutory holiday.
celebratory events generally take place on July 1, even though it is not the legal holiday.
Why is that date? This because Canada became independent on July 1, 1867.
Today Canada is the most multi-cultural country in the world. But less than 500 years ago, the original occupants were Indians and Eskimos.
In 17th centuries many British and France immigrated to Quebec.
The two countries fought because of the domination over the Quebec between 1756 to 1763.
At last, the British government won the war, and had the domination over the Quebec.
After many years, Canada became a independent country in July 1st 1867.
Every year, people will organize celebrations for Canada Day, usually outdoor public events, such as fireworks, parades… and so on.
Fireworks are very beautiful.
There are many parades. The peoples are dressed in their best clothes for the celebration.
That date is very important for the people of Canada. This reminds me of a question. who established Canada?
I guess, maybe this guy.
Of course, not. He is our teacher. He is very smart and humorous. Most importantly, He is too handsome to be a Prime Minister
Who on earth established Canada ? I don’t know. But you don’t have to worry about it , My partner understand lots of things about it. Please let Daisuke introduce it.
