Implicitly or explicitly all competing businesses employ a strategy to select a mix
of marketing resources. Formulating such competitive strategies fundamentally
involves recognizing relationships between elements of the marketing mix (e.g.,
price and product quality), as well as assessing competitive and market conditions
(i.e., industry structure in the language of economics).

This 60-minute webinar, sponsored by Adobe, was delivered for the Training Mag Network. It explored the five elements of SPARK: Storytelling, Purpose, Action, Relationships, and Kudos. Knowing how to tell a well-structured story is key to building long-term memory. Stating a clear purpose that doesn't take away from the discovery learning process is critical. Ensuring that people move from theory to practical application is imperative. Creating strong social learning is the key to commitment and engagement. Validating and affirming participants' comments is the way to create a positive learning environment.

2. Geography
AREA
As one of the largest countries in the world, Canada makes
up most of North America. In terms of its borders, Canada has the
longest coastline and longest land border. Canada also tops the
charts by having more fresh water lakes than any other country.
WEATHER
As a country that can see temperatures as low as -40oF, it is
not surprising to hear that snow can stay on the ground in some
parts as long as six months to a year. There are some tropical areas
of Canada where temperatures reach over 100oF.
3. Geography
• Physical Geography
– Canada consists of 7 different biomes, or
ecosystems
• Tundra, Boreal Forest, Mixed Forest, Broadleaf Forest,
Prairies, Rocky Mountains, and Temperate Coniferous
Forests.
– The Appalachian mountains can be found in
Eastern Canada and the Rocky Mountains are to
the West.
5. People
There is over an estimated 34.5 million people residing in
Canada. Canada averages a population increase around 20% in
the last 20 years. That may seem a bit high, but this figure is
less when compared to its other North American counterparts;
the United States and Mexico. Considering most of Canada’s
geography is covered in snow, 80% of the population lives
along the United States border in the southern portion of
Canada. Like many other countries around the world, Canada
is home to an older generation, with the national age averaging
just below 40 years. Canada is primarily a Christian nation,
with over 75% of the population. Of that group, almost half
are Catholic. The next largest group, at more than 15%, is
those that claim no religious affiliations. The remainders are a
diverse group consisting of Protestant, Anglicans, Baptist,
Lutherans, Islam, and Judaism.
