The display and app track caregiver visit times to ensure weekly care targets are met while encouraging communication between caregivers and those receiving care.
GiFT
GiFT is a proposed system to address the need for simple reporting of activities from day centers to caregivers. By recording interactions between care workers and individuals with dementia via smartphone, and transmitting the audio to caregivers' radios, GiFT aims to (1) bridge gaps between professional and family caregiving, (2) provide caregivers insight into often changing behaviors and interests, and (3) support relationships through shared activities rather than reminiscence. The system would not require new work or technology skills from care workers or caregivers.

Diabetes UK provides information and support to people with diabetes through their Careline and increasing use of social media. Careline received nearly 33,000 queries in 2010 and is on track to receive around 35,000 queries in 2011. Careline helps people with a wide range of diabetes-related questions. Diabetes UK has been using social media since 2007 and now has over 29,000 Facebook likes and 13,779 Twitter followers. People use social media to ask questions, seek advice, and discuss their experiences living with diabetes. Diabetes UK plans to expand their social media presence through more live chats on popular topics and having Careline counselors respond directly and write blog posts.

Lack of empathy can be a barrier to migrant community mediation because without understanding the perspectives and experiences of migrants, host community members may not be supportive of mediation efforts or recognize the needs that mediation aims to address. With limited empathy, community members cannot fully understand migrants' pain, motives, or what they are feeling/experiencing, making it harder to gain cooperation or buy-in for mediation as a way to create solutions. Developing empathy for migrants' situations is important for breaking down barriers between communities.

The Centenary Care Trust provides support to cancer patients and those with mental illnesses in Muzarabani, Zimbabwe. The Trust works with over 5,000 young people and local organizations to establish over 200 projects in the next 3 years to benefit mentally ill and cancer-affected communities. The Trust aims to rebuild confidence, independence, and optimism for recovering individuals and enable their reengagement in education and employment through various social, educational, and income-generating projects. Evaluations show the Trust is effective in improving happiness, socialization, confidence, and a sense of belonging and normalcy for those recovering from cancer or mental illness.
