Fundraising is a bona fide revenue stream that can be planned for and leveraged. The nonprofit sector has an opportunities to maximize all revenue earned by implementing a professional development program that adheres to the ethics and standards of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP)
Nonprofit organizations are able to recruit a third revenue stream to supplement operations and special projects. In order to maximize the potential, involving board members is required. This session was presented to a group of long-term care executives on April 5, 2013 at the RI Leading Age Conference in Warwick, RI.
Yes. We hear that board member participation in fundraising is important to the overall success of a nonprofit's fundraising program...but where is the proof? This presentation was designed for the Leading Age RI Conference and Trade Show targeting long-term care organizations and professionals.
In today’s difficult economic climate, organizations are cutting back on expenses and asking staff to do more with less. Often, the task of raising money falls to the Chief Executive Officer, who is already consumed with management responsibilities. This session will address the competing priorities and provide tactics that will result in fundraising success. In addition to the CEO, program staff, administrative support and volunteers are ideal audience members for this fast paced, interactive session.
Saint Elizabeth Community is seeking a talented, motivated Major Gifts Officer to develop and lead a brand new initiative devoted to recruiting major and planned gifts for the RI elder continuing care organization.
Some nonprofits have more of a challenge than others in identifying prospective donors. This educational session was presented to the AFP MA Chapter Conference on Philanthropy on 11/30/11
There seems to be a perception among volunteers, development staff, and leadership that raising money to support organizational operations is a bad thing and should not be done. This presentation offers evidence to the contra. Michele R. Berard, MBA, CFRE is an AFP Master Trainer and presents to AFP Chapters and other organizations throughout the east coast.
A Foundation Grants program is the base of every philanthropy program. An organization constructs its case for support which acts as the main commercial for the organization. Prospect research, planning and communications are also discussing in this presentation.
Service beneficiaries are an organization\'s most obvious donors. Unfortunately, not ever nonprofit has a natural "feeder constituency". This presentation will help those nonprofits to focus their effects to create philanthropic returns.
Michele R. Berard, MBA, CFRE lecture for 5/4/11 class - Nonprofits & Philanthropy at Rhode Island College. Contains fundamentals of fundraising, ethics, and establishing your professional brand.
Grantmakers and donors are slowly coming around to the need for general operating support to advance nonprofit missions. However, the question still exists on the measuring the impact. This article should be read by all nonprofit employees, volunteers and stakeholders.
This eight-page flyer outlines the speakers, plenary sessions, networking and resources that will be featured at the AFP-RI Conference on May 20, 2010.
Engaging Board Members in non-profit fundraising is the most effect method to deliver philanthropy to your organization. Unfortunately, not all organizations have this down pat. Follow this step by step plan based on a real case (Butler Hospital in Providence, RI where Michele R. Berard, MBA, CFRE is the CDO).

Fundraising Day in Southeastern New England
April 12, 2012, Warwick Rhode Island
On April 12th, more than 200 professional and grassroots fundraisers, executive directors,
board members, service providers and funders will gather for networking and professional
development at Fundraising Day in Southeastern New England, a one‐day conference hosted by
the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Rhode Island Chapter (AFP‐RI).
Presenters and Presentations
AFP‐RI is seeking presenter applications from experienced professionals and talented workshop
leaders. We are looking for an exciting variety of engaging workshops and keynotes – from
basics to advanced, tried‐and‐true to cutting edge – so wow us! We’ll develop themes and
tracks once we’ve had a chance to review the proposals submitted.
In the past, the most popular workshops are those that focus on the practice of fund
development. Our attendees want to hear how practices have worked in organizations with
which they can identify. We recommend including in your workshop cases that demonstrate
how real organizations have benefited from the practices you present.
Many of our attendees, though not exclusively, are from small to mid‐sized organizations or
from small shops within larger organizations.
The conference will host 15 unique workshops that are an hour and fifteen minutes in length.
Double sessions lasting two and one half hours for advanced or involved topics will be
considered. Keynote sessions are approximately 45 minutes.
Proposal Logistics
If you are interested in presenting, we encourage you to submit an application.
Unfortunately, we cannot compensate presenters. However, we invite presenters to stay for
the entire conference with our compliments. Selected presenters will be provided a contact list
of conference attendees, promotion of your session, bio and contact information in conference
publicity materials.
