The table below is used to calculate the following data for the fuel gas based on
its composition given in molar fractions xi:
• Molar mass:
∑= i iiMxM
• Lower and upper caloric value (LHV and HHV):
∑= i iiLHVxLHV , ∑= i iiHHVxHHV
• Specific production of reaction products carbon dioxide (CO2) and water
(H2O) in stoichiometric combustion
On the right hand side the composition of the combustion air is defined.

• composition and quantity of the flue gas
for fuel gas and combustion air are as defined in the above table. Both
calculations are carried out for
• stoichiometric combustion (no excess air)
• combustion with excess air as defined by the air ratio λ > 1.
This calculation is used especially for the determination of the flue gas quantity
varying with the oxygen content:
