Cloud migration is table stakes for digital transformation initiatives. The driving factors to get to the cloud vary from organization to organization...for some, it's about cost savings and for others, it's about creating smarter apps that support continuous innovation.
IaaS – For organizations looking to reduce costs, Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) is a great option. IaaS is sometimes described as "Lift and Shift" – when applications are moved from an existing infrastructure to a cloud infrastructure. This helps save money by reducing the hardware needed to run those applications and providing flexibility to adjust infrastructure requirements on-demand.
PaaS – For organizations looking for smarter deployments that facilitate digital transformation, streamline the delivery of new feature and support emerging technologies like IoT and Machine Learning, Platform as a Service (PaaS) is a more suitable option. While a considerable percentage of new application development is done with a cloud-first mentality, most legacy software is not optimized for a cloud environment.
So now the question becomes, how do I get my existing application portfolios ready for cloud migration so I can take full advantage of new technologies and processes
Software Intelligence-Based Cloud Readiness
So you’re ready for PaaS, but before you begin to assess the technical and structural requirements of the migration, you must also determine the business drivers for cloud and the desired outcomes. Setting a cloud migration roadmap that is based on comprehensive Software Intelligence that considers both business drivers and technical features of your applications is a critical first step.

AWS re:Invent 2016: Fueling Migration: Shortcutting your Application Portfoli...Amazon Web Services
For many large enterprises, gathering data on your applications and developing a detailed business case for an all-in migration to AWS can be a time consuming activity. Instead of waiting on a full analysis to be completed, a global healthcare company decided to take a shortcut by reinventing the portfolio assessment process in a brilliantly simple manner. This new streamlined approach enabled them to immediately take advantage of the increased speed and innovative capabilities of AWS. In this session, IT directors and enterprise architects can learn these techniques to quickly identify which of their own applications fit cloud-friendly patterns; including, how to build a prioritized and multi-threaded migration queue that maximizes velocity and business value.
Do you use Cloud? Why? What about the 15 year legacy of your data center? How many Enterprise vendors tried to sell you their "Hybrid Cloud" solution? What actually is a Hybrid Cloud?
Cloud computing is not just a new way of running servers or Docker containers. The interesting part of any Cloud offering are managed services that provide solutions to difficult problems. Prime examples are messaging (SNS/SQS), distributed storage (S3), managed databases (RDS) and especially turn-key solutions like managed Hadoop (EMR).
Hybrid Cloud is usually understood as a way to unify or standardize server hosting across private data centers and Public Cloud vendors. Some Hybrid Cloud solutions even go as far as providing a unified API that abstracts away all the differences between different platforms. Unfortunately that approach focuses on the lowest common denominator and effectively prevents using the advanced services that each Cloud vendor also offers. However, these services are the true value of Public Cloud vendors.
Another approach to integrating Public Cloud and private data centers is using services from both worlds depending on the problems to solve. Don't hide the cloud technologies but make it simple to use them - both from within the data center and the cloud instances. Create a bridge between the old world of the data center and the new world of the Public Cloud. A good bridge will motivate your developers to move the company to the cloud.
Based upon recent developments at ImmobilienScout24, this talk tries to suggest a sustainable Cloud migration strategy from private data centers through a Hybrid Cloud into the AWS Cloud.
Bridging the security model of the data center with the security model of AWS.
Integrating the AWS identity management (IAM) with the existing servers in the data center.
Secure communication between services running in the data center and in AWS.
Deploying data center servers and Cloud resources together.
Service discovery for services running both in the data center and AWS.
Most of the tools used are Open Source and this talk will show how they come together to support this strategy:

Migrating your Existing Applications to the CloudNestweaver
Cloud migration is the process of moving the applications, data or business elements from on-premise location or organization computer to the cloud or migrating from one cloud environment to another. The transition of data between cloud environments is called cloud to cloud migration and transitioning to a different cloud provider is called cloud service migration. In some cases, the successful migration to service provider environment may require middleware or cloud integration tool to bridge the gap between the service provider and the customer.
Migrating your business applications from your on-site or co-located datacenters to the AWS Cloud takes some planning, and a phased approach. This webinar looks at migration patterns from an architectural perspective and what tools and techniques are available to you.
Reasons to attend:
- Learn about planning your cloud migration strategy.
- This webinar will help you select the workloads that can easily be moved to the cloud.
- Evaluate the conditions and metrics required for a successful and cost effective migration.

AWS Enterprise Day | Running Critical Business Applications on AWSAmazon Web Services
The Cloud Journey for many enterprise customers starts with an initial migration of websites and mobile applications to AWS, followed by deployment of their critical business services. These services, such as SAP and Oracle, are typically more complex and underpin many business processes in the customer's organisation and may be deployed as hybrid solutions, integrated closely with other internal and external services. To do this, customers need to have fast and reliable connectivity to existing on-premise networks, as we covered in the previous session. Let's look at how we can now build on that to help you understand the benefits that many customers have achieved when they moved their business applications to AWS.
View these slides if you're you new to cloud computing and would like to learn more about Amazon Web Services (AWS), if you intend to implement a project and would like to discover the basics of the AWS cloud or if you are a business looking to evaluate cloud computing, attend this webinar. In this recorded webinar, we answer the following questions:

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

21. Azure Redis Cache During high load you can get
Time-out exceptions
Causes
Plan exceeded
Object size vs single thread
Synchronously access of large objects
Noisy neighbors (C0 plan)
Cache Error
Explanation
The Lazy instance is not thread safe; if the instance is accessed from multiple
threads, its behavior is undefined. Use this mode only when high performance is
crucial and the Lazy instance is guaranteed never to be initialized from more than
one thread. If you use a Lazy constructor that specifies an initialization method
(valueFactory parameter), and if that initialization method throws an exception (or
fails to handle an exception) the first time you call the Value property, then the
exception is cached and thrown again on subsequent calls to the Value property
