Alicia has special
powers, but she
doesn’t know it yet.
She is on a journey.
Earlier on, her father
was kidnapped by a
powerful wizard to
work for him as a
slave. Despite her fear,
she must travel the
long, dusty roads to
find her father. Now
she is at a forked path,
and must make a
decision to go left or
right.
She has been walking for hours and it is getting
dark. She is exhausted and just on the brink of
collapsing, but she is determined to find her
father and wants to go on. Should she :

1. Rest for a while
2. Keep on walking
She sets up camp and falls asleep almost
immediately, but her dreams were of the time
her father was kidnapped. She remembers the
way the powerful wizard looked at her with his
dark, cruel eyes and wakes up sweating. She is
too shaken to go back to sleep. Though she is
still exhausted, she gets up and walks.
Alicia plods on and on along the path. Her legs are numb and she’s hardly aware that
she’s even walking. She stumbles along the path and nearly trips over a rock. She is
desperate to get to her father, but her legs give way and she crumples onto the
ground. As she props herself up with her arms, she sees two yellow eyes gleaming in
the dark, looking straight at her. The eyes of a black panther, half-hidden in the dark.
Should she
1. Run
2. Stay still
She stays still, trying not to
breathe too hard. She stays silent
and unmoving, hoping the
panther will leave, but suddenly it
advances on her, baring its teeth.
She can see it in the moonlight,
and it looks terrifying. She is
scared silly and runs away madly
in a zigzag pattern, just like her
father has told her to do when
being chased.
Seeing the panther has given Alicia an adrenaline rush.
She runs with the speed of an Olympic runner. She
looks back and nearly crashes into a tree. Lucky for
her, the panther doesn’t seem to be following her and
she slows down. Dawn is coming, and sunlight streams
down on the forest. Alicia can see an old woman, and
she looks hungry. Alicia has little food left, but she
pities the old woman. Should she
1. Give the old woman her food
2. Keep on walking.
She walks past the old woman and through the forest.
All the trees look the same and she soon gets lost and
returns to the place she had originally started. She sees
the old woman again and takes pity on her. Alicia gives
the old woman some food. The old woman tells her
where the powerful wizard’s house is.
Alicia gives the old woman all the food
she has left. The old woman is grateful
and when Alicia asks her where the
wizard’s house is, she shows her the
way.
After walking a very long way through the trees, Alicia sees an old stone cottage. She
peers in through the window and spots her father, tied up on a chair. She tries to untie
them, but the knots have been tied too well.

While she is doing this, the wizard suddenly comes in and sees her. Alicia is very
frightened, but she wants to save her father. Should she
1. Run away
2. Stay, fight the wizard
She goes right and meets a squirrel
along the path. To her surprise, the
squirrel can talk! She is shocked,
but remains calm. She gives the
squirrel a few nuts from her bag of
food, and the squirrel gratefully
tells her that she is on the wrong
path to find her father and shows
her another way.
She follows the path the squirrel has shown her and she suddenly
she sees a horse and a hooded rider, who offers her a ride. Then she
notices another small path, a little rocky but she can see a little
smoke coming from that direction. She must now choose whether
to
1. Follow the rider
2. Keep on going on the long, forest road.
3. Follow the rocky path towards the smoke
Alicia decides to follow the rocky path towards the
smoke. As she goes along the path, the smoke gets
thicker and thicker. Soon her head starts to hurt and she
can’t breathe properly. Her head is spinning and she
falls to the ground in a faint. When she wakes up her
head feels much better, and she finds that a man is
leaning towards her. He offers to help, but she is not
sure if she should trust him. Should she

1. Accept help from the man
2. Ignore the rider and go back to the path
3. Scream in his face and run off while he is startled
Alicia decides to accept the man’s help. The
man brings her to his house and gives her
some soup to eat. As she is eating, Alicia
tells the man why she was walking though
the forest. The man says that he will help
her. He brings her back tho the path. Alicia
thanks him gratefully and walks on.
Alicia decides that if she just ignored him and went
on the path, he might be offended and capture her.
And the man didn’t look very trustworthy. So she
screams in his face as loud as she can, and runs off
madly before he realises what is happening. The
man doesn’t follow her and she gets safely away.
She keeps on walking along the path.
Alicia decides to follow the rider. She gets on the horse
and the rider asks her,’ What is your name, and why
are you in the forest all alone?’ Alicia wants to tell him,
but she is not sure if she trusts him. Should she
1. Tell the rider
2. Don’t tell the rider.
Alicia decides that she does not trust the rider.
She walks away, along the path amongst the
trees.
Alicia decides to tell the rider. She tells him everything. Her name, what
happened to her father and why she was in the forest. Suddenly the rider
throws back his hood and gives an evil laugh. It is the wizard! The wizard
captures her. She will be his slave for eternity!
Alicia runs away in terror, but the wizard catches
and imprisons her. The wizard kills her and
remains as powerful as ever.
Alicia stays where she is, and bravely fights
the wizard. She discovers her special powers,
and easily defeats the wizard with them. She
saves her father and they both live happily
ever after in the wizard’s house.
