Vikings were fierce warriors known for terrorizing Europe from the late 700s to the 11th century. They believed their swords had magical properties and would decorate them with runes and gold. Vikings used shields, axes, and spears in battle in addition to their swords. They would launch raids on territories in fleets of hundreds of ships carrying about 30 warriors each and aimed to overpower small, isolated targets using their versatile, craft warships.
