There are the following global challenges:
• lack of energy
• lack of fresh water
• environmental problem
• saving the climate and life on the planet
The existing technology does not allow to avoid the potential disaster in 2050-2100. Suggested technology (Air Hydro Electric Station, Artificial Hydro Power) is perhaps the only one way that allows to avoid this.
Water Cycle is the most powerful process in Nature – about 1/4 of Sun’s Energy. Since the annual precipitation is about 1 m of rainfall, it matches a huge power ~ 800 TW that is more than 60 times greater than all the current needs of humanity and more than 400 times greater than all electrical power stations.
Why the usual Hydro power gives so little from Water Cycle power? Because the flow of all rivers is 11 times less than all precipitation and all rivers power is 200 times less than Cloud Power.
How to avoid this power loss?
• Collect water in place where it condenses really, i.e. directly in clouds
• Use all possible hydro power head in any place of land or ocean
We suggest the technology for realization this idea – Air HES, that allows to get water directly from clouds (by using a fog collector technology) in order to create artificial Hydro Power anywhere worldwide.
Major trend is the transition to renewable energy sources. It then becomes clear that resources are only sufficient for sun and (possibly) wind. Traditional hydro power does not have enough resources. However, the use of cloud energy changes this assessment.
Principally it results from economics. All three methods of conversion (PV, wind, clouds) are the same order of magnitude of the energy density (~ 100 W/m2) , but only for Air HES all this energy with virtually no loss can be merged into one point (pipe/turbine), making part of the proportional m2 far cheaper than other alternatives. This implies ROI > 1000% that allows quickly rebuild the energetics and successfully pass the collapse of energy & climate in 2050.
Hydraulic Rock Storage (HRS) can be used to store power, in the scale of multi-GWh, for 8 to 14 hours– potentially more efficiently than Pumped Hydro Storage. We believe that HRS will be a game - changing solution for the world´s energy supply, as photovoltaic (PV) and wind power become the cheapest source of electricity and the demand for power continues to increase rapidly. HRS offers reliable 24 - hour supply of solar and wind power at steady, predictable costs. Additionally it may be a contribution to resilience power systems.

Most inventions are not usually new: this new HUG (Helical Unique Generation), an invention, which is a combination of two inventions: the Gorlov helical turbine (1992), which is the child of the Darrieus turbine (1926), and vortex technology, developed by Schauberger (1929). A vortex pathway into which oval twin helical turbines are placed creates a marriage of two inventions: the Helical Pathway System, HUG (Patent Pending) and an oversize eggbeater.
The secret is in the natural motion of the water, which is a vortex. Water reduces resistance by curving more and more inwards thereby avoiding the confrontational resistance of straight motion. Nature has no use for the straight line: think of the water that leaves your bathtub; give it a twirl and see it speed up.
Canada has tremendous potential for small hydro development with more than 5500 identified sites (11,000 MW), especially in a free flow environment. It was estimated that as much as 3,400 MW of electricity generation potential could be exploited in U.S. rivers by small, unconventional systems such as free-flow turbines.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:
2. THE ESSENCE OF THE PROBLEM:
non-renewable energy sources are finite in resource
and lead to irreversible climate change
The problem of lack of energy is now mainly solved through
the use of fuel reserves. Nuclear power plants, hydroelectric
power, renewable sources are used to a limited extent.
Hopes for thermonuclear energy are not justified.
The production of energy from renewable energy sources
(mainly solar and wind) requires significant capital investments
and accumulation. Calculations show that RES may not be
enough to prevent climate change.
The problem of fresh water shortage is now mainly solved by
desalination of sea water. This requires significant energy
costs and exacerbates the problems of energy shortages and
climate change.
1. PROBLEM
Global problems:
Lack of energy
Fresh water shortage
Changing of the climate
Current price order:
~ $0.1/kWh for electricity
~ $1.0/m3 for fresh water
3. 2. SOLUTION
We propose to use this energy,
which will quickly solve the
problems of energy and climate, as
well as provide all people with a
source of fresh water (11 times
greater than the flow of all the
rivers of the planet).
Approximately 1/4 of the energy
of the Sun goes to the
evaporation of water.
This energy is accumulated in
the clouds, and corresponds to a
power of ~ 800 TW, which is 60
times more than all the needs of
people around the world.
4. 3. TECHNOLOGY
The main advantages of AirHES:
• Huge potential of energy and water
• Possibility of almost universal use
• Possibility of accumulating hydropower and H2
• Receiving simultaneously energy, water, hydrogen
• Reducing the energy cost by 1-2 orders of magnitude
• Prevention of impact on climate and ecology
• Technical simplicity, worldwide production
This problem is solved by the AirHES
project - the second (after the Sun)
global source of clean renewable
energy and the first - fresh water.

5. 4. MARKET, PRODUCTS, APPLICATIONS
Market potential ~ $1000 billion
Potential products/services and target market:
1. cheap water (~ 1 billion people) - availability, coolness, high pressure, perfect
quality, low price (~ $0.015/m3 according to feasibility study)
2. cheap hydropower (~5 billion people) - availability, eco-friendly, unlimited
resource, low price (~ $0.003/kWh according to feasibility study)
3. cheap eco fuel (~ 1 "gold" billion people) - hydrogen for eco transport, like
natural gas for heating and industry, etc.
4. solution to the problem of global warming (~ 8 billion, the entire planet)
5. compact on the ground, modularity and mobility, use for WiFi,
telecommunications, video surveillance, high-altitude advertising, lightning
protection, climate protection, climate control, air defense, shading in hot
countries, etc.
We have already

etc. of our own
6. 5. BUSINESS MODEL
Our calculations of the feasibility study and the complex model show that for
various options for the implementation of the AirHES, the payback period can vary
from a month to a year, and a typical ROI should be ~ 1000% or more…
This is easy to understand when you consider that the cheapest energy today
comes from hydropower, and AirHES throws away ~90% of capital investments in
hydropower, since it does not require the construction of reservoirs and dams…
We hope to be of interest to the state or a large investor who will evaluate the
prospect of AirHES technology, potentially comparable to a thermonuclear
program. It is especially promising to use AirHES to solve the problems of those
territories and countries where the problem of fresh water shortage is acute, for
example, Malta, Israel, etc. In addition, this breakthrough technology (as well as
other renewable energy sources) can be saving for the climate and ecology of the
entire planet.
7. 6. COMPETITORS
For water supply purpose, this solution is unique and global. This is the only
solution that allows you to get perfect fresh water almost anywhere without
spending, but vise versa at the same time receiving energy.
Any other ways to get fresh water where it is not available are either local (like fog
collection systems) or require significant energy costs (like systems for condensing
water from air, desalination, evaporation, reverse osmosis, etc.)
For energy supply purposes, this solution ranks among other renewable energy
sources (such as solar and wind), but potentially outperforms them in terms of
technical and economic assessments and internal storage capabilities.
8. 7. COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES
Why choose us? Why choose us с?
Why choose us? Why choose us?
We are the only ones who can get water where
there is no water for thousands of miles
around, although the nearest "well" is only a
couple of miles above our heads.
We are the only ones who know that each cloud
above our head is equivalent in power to a nuclear
power plant or thermal power plant, but whose
energy is much cleaner and cheaper.
Because our goal is not just to make a profit, but to
solve the problems of billions of people, providing
them with access to clean water and cheap energy,
as well as preserving the climate on the planet.
We perfectly complement our conditional
competitors (renewable energy sources), as
we can produce energy exactly when the Sun
is covered by clouds or at night.
9. 8. CURRENT STAGE
We spent several years developing this idea. Unfortunately, this was not enough to bring
the project to a commercial stage. The project is currently on hold, although all of our
research is open and patent restrictions have been lifted.
This technology has been completely theoretically developed and partially confirmed by
full-scale and laboratory experiments, the necessary technical, economic and
engineering calculations, computer simulation and optimization have been carried out.
For its implementation, it is necessary to conduct R&D in the coming years, build and
test prototypes.
We assume that with the availability of funding, we (or any other group) could, within 2-3
years, bring the project to a real technical prototype of the AirHES with a transition to the
commercial stage...
11. 10. FOR INVESTORS
We are looking for the minimum
possible funding for 36 months to bring
the AirHES project to a real technical
prototype with the transition to the
commercial stage.
If the state or the investor believes in
the prospect of AirHES, then it would
be ideal to receive serious financing at
the level of similar projects ~$3M
We deliver the entire project.
