Wipro has taken several initiatives to promote business ethics, including an Integrity Manual that guides employees' conduct and a SOS helpline for guidance on moral or legal issues. It also introduced an Ombudsprocess in 2003 allowing anonymous reporting of serious issues. However, some unethical practices still occurred, such as misleading customers which led to lost contracts. The World Bank also barred Wipro for four years in 2007 for providing improper benefits to staff. While both ethical and unethical practices exist, Wipro focuses on promoting ethics and was recognized as one of the world's most ethical companies in 2013.
