consider your topic/subject
• Most assignments require you to find additional
information
• Not all internet information is reliable
• Two types of information
• Primary
• Secondary

• Primary Research
• Research conducted for the first time and undertaken by
you
• Interviews, questionnaires, surveys
• Questionnaire- general questions to include everyone
• Interview- more specific to the person/business
• Two main types of questions:
• Open-ended questions- not specific, opinions
• Closed-ended questions-limited answers, specific
• Be sure not to lead the interviewee.
• Often best to use a range of questions

• Research done by others
• Where do you start?
• Choose appropriate resources
• Make sure your resources are current
• Make sure your information is accurate- you can do this by
further research
• Make sure the author is credible
• Watch out for bias
• Only need to read through the relevant information
• Make sure you record where your notes come from
• Look at as many resources as possible

• Therefore your argument should be logical or in a step by
step path
• Your research must support or backup your main idea
