which allows consumers to order a takeaway
meal through the Internet from an extensive
range of over 800 Irish restaurants.



The Need
As a pure online company with a capacity to
grow its business, JustEat.ie needs a solid and
reliable communications provider to provide a

A takeaway
success
Innovative company JustEat.ie launched in
Ireland in May 2008. The firm, which is part
of a successful global company, operates a
unique e-business, which allows consumers
to order a takeaway meal through the
internet from a broad range of restaurants.
A key factor for any online company is
reliability, and JustEat.ie knew that in order
to be able to develop its business in Ireland
it needed the help of a trusted partner.

JustEat.ie’s online food ordering system
essentially operates like a mediator between
restaurants, the internet and the consumer. It
allows restaurants to publish their menu on the
JustEat.ie. website from where consumers can
browse and then order their food. JustEat.ie
performs the marketing and promotion of the
restaurant’s menu, takes the orders and sends
them through to the restaurant, and process all
credit card payment through their unique piece
of technology

To date, the company has signed up over 800
restaurants to its site.

The popularity of the site is increasing and it is
currently recording over 200,000 unique visitors
per month. According to Emer McCormack,
Marketing Director at JustEat.ie. The company
aims to break into the top 20 Irish websites this
year, and to become a household name.

In order to achieve these goals however,
McCormack knew that JustEat.ie.had to
consider a reliable service that fulfilled user
expectations. When it moved offices to
O’Connell Street in the city centre, JustEat
ie switched to eircom for landline and
broadband services. “We wanted to work
with the most reliable telecoms provider
and we knew that as an established and
national provider, eircom was the best
choice for us,” said McCormack

eircom broadband powers JustEat.ie’s day-to-
day tasks such as administration and general
operations, as well as email. “Our business
has to run smoothly so that we can provide
timely communication to both our clients and
users that visit the site,” explains McCormack.
“It’s vital for us to know that there is someone
available at the end of the phone to deal with
any issues we may have, and to resolve them as
quickly as possible; it provides real peace
of mind.”

Broadband also provides a fail-safe solution for
JustEat.ie’s ordering system, which is currently
operated via mobile networks – a customer’s
order is sent via a mobile network to a unit
at the relevant restaurant. In the background,
eircom broadband works to provide a safety net,
ensuring that all orders go through successfully.
The system is monitored in real time so if for any
reason the mobile system became unavailable,
JustEat.ie would be able to phone the order in
and maintain its service.

Social Media
Using eircom broadband JustEat.ie is also able to
maintain a presence on social media sites, which
McCormack says have become an important
communications channel for the company.
Maintaining this level of communication with
customers and clients is a vital part of JustEat.ie’s
success. The company’s site features a “Live
Chat” customer support function, powered by
eircom broadband, that allows customers and
clients to ‘chat’ directly with a member of the
customer service team if they have any issues
or queries.

Looking to the future, JustEat.ie aims to
continue to make use of proven channels such
as search engine marketing and social media to
raise brand awareness and to develop lasting

The firm, which is part of a successful global company, operates a unique e-business, which allows consumers to order a takeaway meal through the internet from a broad range of restaurants. A key factor for any online company is reliability, and JustEat.ie knew that in order to be able to develop its business in Ireland it needed the help of a trusted partner. JustEat.ie’s online food ordering system essentially operates like a mediator between restaurants, the internet and the consumer. It allows restaurants to publish their menu on the JustEat.ie. website from where consumers can browse and then order their food. JustEat.ie performs the marketing and promotion of the restaurant’s menu, takes the orders and sends them through to the restaurant, and process all credit card payment through their unique piece of technology To date, the company has signed up over 800 restaurants to its site.
