Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.

User experience:
long term comfort, mo1on
sickness & well being, human
factors, control systems.
CAV user experience will be unique:
assump/ons underlying previous
research could be unreliable; realising
CAV poten/al requires outstanding
user engagement, maximising well-
being and comfort whilst avoiding
isola/on and boredom.
User behaviour and inclusivity:
vulnerable users (including oldest and
youngest), occupant postures and
aSen1on, behaviour change.
Behaviour of CAV occupants will be different
to those of drivers or passengers of exis/ng
vehicles. The demands may be extended due

• About STBY
STBY is an SME based in London and Amsterdam, with 3 full-time employees in London. We
specialise in design research for service innovation. We carry out creative research projects that
connect organisations with the lives and experiences of their customers, using approaches including
in-depth interviews, ethnographic observation, co-creation workshops and mobile diary studies. This
helps our clients to innovate their service offering, making it more valuable for both their customers
and their business. Our projects generate rich, visually illustrated and engaging materials, that bring
real people into the heart of service innovation processes.

81. 1. Your project idea
We want to engage with citizens and
stakeholders through collaborative co-creation
workshops, to identify and prioritise concerns, co-
creating design solutions and future scenarios that
address them. Workshops can take place in our
studio in London or out on the streets through
pop-up installation stalls. We want to get feedback
and ideas from a range of people and
stakeholders, and to include the expertise of
designers, engineers and technologists working on
these modes of transport.
3. The services you can offer?
• Co-creation workshops: small, collaborative
sessions to explore design ideas and scenarios,
prioritised directions and outcomes
• In-depth qualitative research: at-home or in-
studio interviews capturing individuals’
experiences, desires for future design
• Design documentaries: short edited films
highlighting insights from qualitative research
2. What’s innovative about it?
Co-creation workshops are an innovative
approach that include multiple perspectives in
the design process, to explore, identify and
prioritise design solutions. As opposed to a
technology-led approach that hinges on deploying
a particular software or hardware, we aim to first
develop design scenarios together with local
citizens and experts. We will include the
participation and collaboration of a diverse range
of citizens and various experts in the field,
including transportation engineers and urban
designers.
4. The partners/services you seek?
• Local government stakeholders: involved in
future legislation surrounding autonomous
vehicles
• Programmers, technologists, developers:
working on related technology
• Design teams: in companies working on
projects in or related to this space
