Introduccion
On the century XIX there were two process
very important for EE.UU: The expansion to
the West and the War of Secession. The
Country growed up and started an
economic development.
The Expansion of the West
The population of United States was
increased thanks to the arrival of inmigrants.
France and Spain bought Louisiana and
Florida in the century XIX. After a short war,
New Mexico and California joined and
United States was colonized. The expansion
to the west provided many lands.
The Expansion of the West
In this area differed three regions:
The Northeast: It’s had a industrial and
urban development.
The South: Her economy was agrarian and
based in the explotation of cotton and
tobbaco was worked by slaves.
The West: It’s predominated the
independent farmers.
The problem of the slavery
and the war of secession.
The constitution of Unites States permited to
the rest of the states to choose if they
wanted to impose the slavery. In the north
and western the slavery was forbidden, but
in the south it was permited. The
confrontation between the slavery States
and the abolitionists States, it grew in the
midle of the XIX century.

In 1860 Lincoln became to be president,
and he prohibited the slavery States. Then
eleven Sates of the south splited up and
they made one Confederation. Lincoln and
the Congrees of Unites States agreed that
anyone State could splited up and if they
did it, the Congress and Lincoln will avoid it
whit the force.

The war of secession lasted four year and it
finished whit the victory of the north. This
war was very destructive, in this war there
were modern arms. The conflict caused half
million of deads and devastated a lot of
territories.
The Reconstruction
The period later the war is konwn like
recostruction. It was a age of a great
economic prosperity. At this moment, the
United States opened an important
economic development, that turned in the
first industrial power in the world at the
beginning of the twenty’s century.
The Reconstruction
The slavery was abolished after the war, but
on moved back the army of the north, the
south eliminated the favorables laws to the
black population.
In this age the politic life begin to organize
in two parties, the republicans and the
democrats, what lasts up to today.
