The Internet of Things (IoT) allows physical objects to connect to the internet and transfer data. ICANN is a non-profit organization that oversees the management of internet domain names and IP addresses to ensure the stable and secure operation of the internet. It creates policies through participatory processes but also has inherent policy-making responsibilities due to its role in managing the DNS root server system and assigning internet identifiers. While ICANN aims to limit its role to technical administration, some level of policy-making cannot be eliminated given its responsibilities.
Ethics in development of Information Technology
When people are asked to give their opinion about technology as a whole, they seem to think in a more of a black-and-white way, a binary approach. Many people express that technology is more of a ‘job-destroyer’, ‘something which enslaves humans by making them dependent on itself’, some also say that it ‘makes us lazy and equips us with God-ly powers’, etc. However, in contrast to these points, other people claim that it’s ‘something which induces progress into the society’, ‘something that saves human lives and feeds the starving and the poor’, ‘which increases the standard of living’, and ‘which creates interesting and rewarding jobs’.
Speaking about the development, we, as people who are studying Information Technology, have learnt that the enormous field of Internet of Things (IoT) focusses on developing internet-connected applications which will make our lives easier and comfortable. In addition to the principles and practices which are expected to be followed during the development of the applications, there are some lesser emphasized facts too. These facts include an important factor of ETHICS.
Humans are accustomed to follow some ethics right from our birth, rather we are induced these ethics by our elders. The reason is quite simple – for the betterment of the society and to avoid any evil exploitation of the lesser intelligent people. However, modern capitalism tends to bend the traditional ethics. People resort to ease and comfort over what is right.
A lot of subtopics fall under the wide section of Ethics. They include:
1. Characterizing the Internet of Things
2. Privacy (Of the users as well as their valuable data)
3. Control (Who actually controls the collected data)
4. Environment (Concerns about the environment and practices)
5. Solutions (for the preservation of the principle of Ethics)
In this slide show, we are going to emphasize on the initial couple of topics.

Work vs. prison
This document compares and contrasts the key differences between prison and work. In prison, inmates spend most of their time in small cells, receive meals and have expenses paid for, and can engage in recreational activities. In contrast, at work employees spend long hours in cubicles, have to pay for meals and expenses, and could lose their job for non-work activities. Overall, the document suggests that while prison provides for basic needs, work requires greater personal responsibility and freedom comes with greater cost.
Mystery shopping
Mystery shopping provides an unbiased account of customer interactions by having shoppers masquerade as customers to evaluate services. It identifies gaps between a company's service beliefs and the actual customer experience. Mystery shoppers spend time reviewing stores or other locations to identify soft skills and issues among staff, providing feedback to help improve customer service. Their evaluations take 30-45 minutes for small stores or 2-3 days for hotels. Companies find mystery shopping valuable for keeping employees attentive to customer service.
Accounts receivable
- Receivables are claims against other entities that are usually settled in cash, including trade receivables from normal operations and non-trade receivables from other activities.
- Accounts receivable must be adjusted on the balance sheet to reflect their net realizable value by creating an allowance for doubtful accounts to account for expected uncollectible amounts.
- There are two main methods for accounting for uncollectible receivables - the direct write-off method and estimated bad debts method.

The introduction of DLAU and the CCB & CCX licensing model caused quite a stir in the HCL community. As a Notes and Domino customer, you may have faced challenges with unexpected user counts and license costs. You probably have questions on how this new licensing approach works and how to benefit from it. Most importantly, you likely have budget constraints and want to save money where possible. Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software Fuzzing
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.
