Recruiting With Social Networks such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Careerify, Twitte...Careerify
Social Networking for Recruitment looks at how companies, from start-ups to large corporations, can incorporate social networking and media into their recruitment/HR branding practice. With social media being the fourth most popular activity online, companies are quickly looking for ways to incorporate social media. From Facebook, Careerify, Twitter, LinkedIn to YouTube and Blogs, this presentation provides company examples as well as pointers to source candidates through these networks. Presented by Harpaul Sambhi, CEO of Careerify.
Recruiting College Graduates to Selective InsuranceAli Yeager
Formulated a list of recommendations that we felt were the most beneficial to implement at Selective Insurance to recruit more college graduates to both the company as well as the industry as a whole. We sent out surveys to the "Generation Y" demographic both inside and outside of the company and analyzed the data that came back, and we gathered information about the industry as a whole including salary information.
My team consisted of six interns, including myself, and out of these six I was one of two who had the privilege to present our recommendations in a 15 minute presentation in the auditorium to many senior executives, employees, and our stakeholders in Human Resources.

Bringing Change to Life | YOW 2016 | Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney - AustraliaBill Scott
This talk was given at YOW 2016 in Melbourne, Brisbane & Sydney Australia, December 2016.
Change in an organization is really hard. This is especially true when a company that was once on the forefront of innovation finds itself having lost that luster through its own growth & success. The past few years there has been a transformation happening at PayPal that is touching every part of the organization to make it innovative again. At the heart of this change is engineering innovation coupled with a new, close partnership between product, design and engineering.
Can your organization be changed? From Bill’s experience at Yahoo!, Netflix, PayPal and consulting with numerous companies he believes there are some core principles you can employ to drive transformation that are all centered around the customer. The question Bill will explore is “How can engineering and design be the catalyst for that change?” While this talk will be inspirational, it will take an honest (and humorous) look at what has worked and what hasn’t worked so well in trying to scale change.
A world of adventure awaits you within every app's lifetime, none greater than when the managers decide it is looking a bit long in the tooth.
The realm is a tricky one, your cause may be just but how to you justify you opinion to the grand council of the Elder PMs?
Hunt for the hidden forest where backing from the business is said to dwell.
Visit the fantasy lands of 'bolting on the latest tech'
Face the dark overlord of Rip and Replace
Your challenges will not just be technical, but political & economic, can you defeat evil forever or will it rise stronger in 5 years time?
Let us be your Gandalf, and take you on a journey where you are the hero

StartOps: Growing an ops team from 1 founderServer Density
Bootstrapped startups don't have the luxury of a full team of ops engineers available to respond to issues 24/7, so how can you survive on your own? This talk will tell the story of how to run your infrastructure as a single founder through to growing that into a team of on call engineers. It will include some interesting war stories as well as tips and suggestions for how to run ops at a startup.

A Convergence of Flat Surfaces- Digital Marketing predictions for 2013Ciaran Rogers
This is a presentation I gave at the Content Marketing Association on 4th Dec in London. We were asked to predict big trends for 2013. This belief is we will see a continued convergence of traditional marketing and digital marketing. Audiences attention has for hundreds of years been focused on flat surfaces. As story tellers and marketers our job is to make flat surfaces worthy of attention. Today with digital technology, audiences have a greater diversity of interesting flat surfaces, but that doesn't mean that non digital flat surfaces cease to get any attention! Much of this thinking was inspired by "A day made of Glass' a brilliant window into the not too distant future by an innovative glass manufacturer Corning who specialise in touch screen glass technology. Over the last few years, in order to facilitate growth of our UI applications, we had to make a few architectural decisions like turning to monorepo approach, distributing private packages with npm or adjusting continuous integration setup. In this talk I'd like to share the pain points we've encountered throughout the way, as well as to present benefits of the approach we've worked out compared to more traditional alternatives.

Considering converting your help authoring tool (HAT) output to mobile but not sure what you’re getting into? Recent releases of HATs like Flare and RoboHelp can output to multiple channels such as ebooks, web apps, HTML5, even native apps. Mechanically, it’s surprisingly simple. It’s in the interface design and information design that things can get messy. Come to this session to learn about how. We’ll cover:
The types of mobile supported by HATs and how to define your mobile needs
Interface differences between online help and mobile
What help authoring tool features work, may work, and won’t work in mobile outputs

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.
Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.

"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.
