Buddhists visit temples which are called viharas as places of education, not exclusively on special days or times. While full moon days are common for temple visits, Buddhists remove their shoes before entering temples out of respect for Buddha, whom they see as a teacher rather than a god. Flowers placed before Buddhist statues are meant to remind people of impermanence.
