A. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
I have more a wide range of work experience with government line agencies, UN and bilateral agencies,
I/NGOs and private sectors of Nepal from 1981 todate. My development career started from Asian
Institute of Rural Development, Bangalore and Young India Project, Andhra Pradesh, South India, in
1981-82. In addition, exposure in Thailand, India, Bangladesh and USA and acquired the development
knowledge. Worked as a founder general secretary and latter he became chairperson of Imagine Nepal.
Started the imagine initiative movement and became national advisor of Nepal Appreciative Inquiry
National Network (NAINN). Life member of NEPAN, Kathmandu, executive member of Imagine Nepal,
Kathmandu and advisor of Bageshory Asal Shasan, Nepalgunj.
B. SELF-EMPLOYMED CONSULTANT
1. National Capacity Development Institute, Pro Public, Kathmandu. World Bank funded Program for
Accountability in Nepal (PRAN) Consultant Mentor. Mentored the 4-CSOs in Achham District on Public Fund
Management of public service providing agencies and 1-CSO in Kathmandu and Tanahun districts on public
service delivery agencies for 77-days From October 2013-March 2014. Mentored Mugu District based CSO
RRDC and Kathmandu based CSO DANAR-Nepal, World Bank funded small grant projects on participatory
planning and budgeting of public service providing agencies. May 15-October 31, 2012.
2. ILO / Jobs for Peace Project, Sanepa, Lalitpur. May 17-October-1, 2010. Consultant – Asset based local
community economic development for Parsa and Rautahat Districts: Diagnosis of cooperative and selection of
potential cooperatives for self-employment creation and decent work. Designed capacity building and self-
employment skills development training.
November 17, 2008-May 16, 2009. Technical Backstopping of LED Promoters, and Supplementary indigenous
people's data collection and outline intervention design for inclusive LED by using AI, Ramechhap District:
• Enhanced the capacity of LED Promoters on inclusive data collection, VDC profile preparation and
community intervention activity planning by using AI.
• VDC Profile of 11-VDCs has prepared and inclusive LED intervention activities are being prepared.
• Benchmark data base has established and designed an intervention activity plans for sweet orange,
mandarin orange, commercial vegetable and traditional commercial legume farming.
• Sixth Months 8-Commercial Dhaka Weaving Training plan have already been designed for IP and Dalit

women of Ramechhap by using AI.
February-September 2008. Consultancy support to ILO EmPLED for existing LED data collection of indigenous
peoples for their inclusive local economic development of Ramechhap and Dhanusha Districts by using AI.
August-October, 2007. Contributions to the development and application of territorial diagnosis and institutional
mapping (TDIM) tool (PRA) kits for district-level LED diagnostics. Fruit and vegetable rapid market research in
Kathmandu.
3. Sep 1998-Sep 2002 & Jan 1993-Dec 1995 – SAGUN (Social Action for Grassroots Organization),
Kathmandu. Executive Director. Responsibilities from 1998 to 2002 included:
• Overall organizational management, monitoring and evaluation of four programs:
 Participatory Action Research through Eco-system Approach to Urban
Health project by using Urban PRA Tools in Ward 19 and 20 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City in
collaboration with International Development Research Center, Canada.
 Rural Community Education program through Capacity Building of Local
Institutions in Bara District in collaboration with PLAN International.
 Rural Community Infrastructure Works in Tanahun District in
collaboration with GtZ.
 Social Mobilization through Local Institutions in Achham District in
collaboration with Helvetas.
• Other responsibilities included management, reporting, coordinating and networking. Responsibilities
from 1993-1995 included:
 Planning, budgeting, monitoring and reporting of two participatory action
research field projects in Sankhuwasava District: “Cultural Dimensions in Community Development
through Local Institutions” (in collaboration with UNESCO) and “Promotion of Agro-forestry and
Resource Management through Local Institutions” (in collaboration with International center for
Integrated Mountain Development and Makalu-Barun National Park and Conservation Area Project) by
using of PRA tools and techniques.
 Strengthened community development NGOs, forest users’ groups for
bio-diversity management, grassroots users’ groups for promotion of agro-forestry and cultural groups
for conservation education by using of PRA tools and techniques.
4 . March to Sep. 1996 and Nov. 1996-April 1997, PLAN International, Kathmandu. Participatory
Rural Appraisal Research Coordinator and Training Manager. Responsibilities included:
 Responsible for appreciative-participatory research methodology (PRA) training, baseline
study/survey, documentation, planning, monitoring and reporting etc. Coordinated and organized the
training for community leaders and staff members of Rautahat and Bara districts.
5. June 1990-Dec. 1992, REDD BARNA-Nepal (Norwegian Save the Children), Kathmandu.
Community Development Worker. Responsibilities included:
 Implemented integrated community development programs with special focus on mother and child health.
Other activities included agro-forestry/resource management, non-formal education, and community
infrastructure improvement. Assisted the grass-roots groups and local NGOs in planning, implementation,
and monitoring of participatory and integrated development program in Palpa District.
6. Nov. 1986-May 1990, Southern Lalitpur District. Independent Community Volunteer.
Responsibilities included:
 Organized and supported community groups and local NGOs for participatory planning and implementation
of development programs. Activities included human resource development, agro-forestry and resource
management, savings and credit, health and sanitation, rural infrastructure improvement and social
awareness raising in twelve VDCs of Southern Lalitpur District.

 2004. Save the Children Norway, Kathmandu. Studied the Thematic Evaluation on violence against
sexual abuse of children by using positive deviance approach as a team member. The study was carried out
in the areas of partner NGOs such as SAFE-Nepalgunj, Maiti-Nepal- Hetauda, Sakti Shamuha and SWISH in
Kathmandu were studied by using PRA semi-structure interview. 2001. Save the Children Norwegian,
Kathmandu. Reviewed the children and women's program of Women Self-Help Center in Lamjung district
by using PRA tools.
 2004. CYMMIT/NARC-HMG, Kathmandu. Studied the Impacts of Power Tiller use by the farmers of
Beluwa VDC of Parsa and Benauli VDC of Bara districts by using some PRA tools.
 2003. Mainstreaming Gender Equity Program/Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare,
HMG/ UNDP, Kathmandu. Conducted the socio-economic baseline survey to create benchmark database
to measure the progress of the targeted communities in selected VDCs of 10 program districts of Nepal by
using PRA tools.
 2001. SEARCH-Nepal, Kathmandu. Local institutions of Tamang were studied on natural resources
management regime in Rasuwa district by using PRA tools.
 2000. United Nations Development Program, UN House, Kathmandu. Best practices were studied
under the Twelve Critical Areas of Concerns of Beijing + 5 in different projects as HIV/AIDS/STD in Doti,
Kailali, Kapilvastu, Tanahun, and Sunsari districts of Nepal by using some PRA tools.

 1995. SAGUN, Kathmandu. Carried out the social impacts study in Langtang National Park by using PRA
tools in Syabru VDC of Rasuwa District. Aug.-Sep. 1995, East-West Center, Honolulu, Research was
done on non-timber forest product (NTFP) use in Jumla and Dolpa districts by using PRA tools.
 1993. FAO/Inter-regional project, Participatory Upland Conservation and Development,
Kathmandu. Conducted Participatory Rural Appraisal surveys and established benchmark database to
measure the future progress and developed village micro-action plans in four VDCs in Gorkha District.
