• A BTEC student will be offered one
subject from among the 4 subjects in the
BTEC stream
• A BTEC student has to continue the
subject taken at grade 8 right up to the
end of the course.
• A BTEC subject is more like a course
• An Assessor (Assessor to deliver the
subject)
• A Verifier (will ensure the steps for
internal verification take place)
• Each course contains a number of units
• For each unit there will be a number of assignments
• Examples of assignments:
 research
 project
 Investigations
 Artwork,
 experiments
 presentations
How are BTECs Assessed?
 The following scales are used to grade BTEC
 Pass (P),
 Merit (M),
 Distinction (D) and
 Depending on the size of the course, students
may receive one, two or three grades
 ‘U’, for failure
