Occupational Administrative Court Reporter Assistant/Legal and Medical Transcriptionist
Re: Enthusiastic and hardworking, Administrative Court Reporter Assistant seeking a position in Client Services.
Dear Hiring Professional,
I am writing to express my interest and excitement in applying for the position in the department of Client Services.
I am enclosing my résumé for your review. I hope you will agree I am a strong candidate, and welcome the
opportunity to interview with you personally.
My degree in Legal and Medical Transcription has afforded me the opportunity to prepare for an exciting career as a
medical/legal secretary; transcriptionist; office administrator; text-entry specialist; or transcription production with
court reporters or proofreaders; or work independently with my valuable scoping abilities.
I have three years experience working in the court reporting field by the way of court observation, and as a student
writer working as an intern in both San Francisco and Marin County Courts via The College of Marin (COM). I
worked on several projects that required extensive duties such as: writing, research, and document
production/retrieval. During my six years at COM, I had the opportunity to learn of all the exciting possibilities for a
highly-trained court reporter. Specifically, I became interested in all the aspects of Client Services. In particular, the
aspects I find most intriguing are: deposition summaries, transcript production; storage and retrieval processes. My
computer skills include both CaseCATlyst/Eclipse and Microsoft Office Suite.
In addition to my quantitative skills, I possess the important qualitative attributes that these positions demand
including excellent communication and interpersonal skills. In regards to my life experience, I have had the
distinction of opening several fine dining restaurants. I found the skills acquired in these positions are easily
transferable to any office administration position in a deposition or law office, for example: scheduling; customer
service skills; front office management skills; and client complaint resolution skills.
Consequently, making the choice to defer taking the CSR exam was an easy decision for me. With this combination
of my previous work experience, combined with court reporting and related career education, I believe that I am
uniquely qualified to draw upon the rich traditions and complementary practices of two fields. This connection
between comprehensive knowledge of litigation support backed with customer and office management skills make
me a perfect candidate to work for your firm.
I hope that you agree. Please look forward to hearing from me in the near future to see if you have a position open
at your firm. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Bryan Coleman
