Dear Human Resource Director:
As per the posting for an experienced and skilled legal administrative assistant, I offer my
attached resume for your review and consideration.
For the past 16 years, my assisting positions have been in a myriad of legal settings such
as: real estate, insurance defense/product liability, med-mal, transactional, commercial litigation
and estate. Prior to entering the legal field, I enjoyed supporting C level executives such as the VP
of William Mercer, Actuarial Department; the President of Famous Amos Cookies; the CEO of
President International and other diverse companies such as BCM Engineering and Johnson
Controls.
My first objective as your employee is to gain your complete confidence in my skills and
abilities. With my “can do”, “will do” attitude, I exemplify a cheerfulness and professional
demeanor at all times. While I enjoy a fast pace, I maintain a calm ability to shift focus easily
which accommodates workload prioritization. My broad experience includes: drafting editing
legal documents (motions, stipulations, proposed orders, contracts, reports, agendas, wills, trusts
and trial presentations); accurate transcription (tape and digital); monthly client billings and
statements; accurate attorney time entry; duplication, faxing and scanning of documents and ability
to troubleshoot when needed; friendly and communicative interaction with clients while
maintaining complete confidentiality; effective and professional communication among peers;
knowledgeable experience in the preparation of travel schedules and itineraries; ability to work
well by self or within a team effort. Equally important, I am a resourceful, trustworthy and non-
drama single woman who takes pride in accomplishing complete satisfaction of the people who
depend on me. I perform accurate word processing at approximately 75 wpm.
As you screen applicants for the important role you seek, I realize that selecting the right
personality will likewise secure a positive result in maintaining the success of your firm. I realize
that these attributes are part of what may become a mutually beneficial experience.
If you feel that I meet your qualifications and warrant further consideration, I would enjoy
hearing from you to schedule a personal interview. Please reach me at (228) 990-8148.
My last annual salary was $54k with a competitive benefit package. I seek an immediate,
full time opportunity either temporary, temp to perm or direct hire. I am happy to provide
references upon your request.
Sincerely,
Mel Scott
