THE SACRIFICE HOW PRO-PALESTINE PROTESTS STUDENTS ARE SACRIFICING TO CHANGE T...indexPub
The recent surge in pro-Palestine student activism has prompted significant responses from universities, ranging from negotiations and divestment commitments to increased transparency about investments in companies supporting the war on Gaza. This activism has led to the cessation of student encampments but also highlighted the substantial sacrifices made by students, including academic disruptions and personal risks. The primary drivers of these protests are poor university administration, lack of transparency, and inadequate communication between officials and students. This study examines the profound emotional, psychological, and professional impacts on students engaged in pro-Palestine protests, focusing on Generation Z's (Gen-Z) activism dynamics. This paper explores the significant sacrifices made by these students and even the professors supporting the pro-Palestine movement, with a focus on recent global movements. Through an in-depth analysis of printed and electronic media, the study examines the impacts of these sacrifices on the academic and personal lives of those involved. The paper highlights examples from various universities, demonstrating student activism's long-term and short-term effects, including disciplinary actions, social backlash, and career implications. The researchers also explore the broader implications of student sacrifices. The findings reveal that these sacrifices are driven by a profound commitment to justice and human rights, and are influenced by the increasing availability of information, peer interactions, and personal convictions. The study also discusses the broader implications of this activism, comparing it to historical precedents and assessing its potential to influence policy and public opinion. The emotional and psychological toll on student activists is significant, but their sense of purpose and community support mitigates some of these challenges. However, the researchers call for acknowledging the broader Impact of these sacrifices on the future global movement of FreePalestine.

2. . THE ORIGINS
. SCHOOL PROPOSITION
Build your future in the school of tomorrow, where you learn by doing, a place where
the workshop is a classroom and vice versa. A place where schools and businesses
are not two different worlds, but one unique world, a “school-enterprise”, where studying meets working. A school that is always in contact with the reality of work, and
that helps the students not only through internships in various businesses, but also
by inviting in entrepreneurs for lectures in class. It is a school which analyzes the arts,
mathematics and Italian from the viewpoint of activity in the “real world” of work. The
cultural aspect is highly considered as well. It is, finally, a school in which technology
is used every day in class, a place where one learns but also is prepared to face the
working environment of tomorrow. It is, therefore, not just a school but also a workshop with modern technology, similar to the workshops where Michelangelo and
Leonardo Da Vinci were formed during the Renaissance.
. A METHOD
Cometa Education and the School Oliver Twist were
both born from the experience of Cometa and the fact
that since 1987 it operates in the hospitality and education sector, helping children and young people.
Cometa Education started its activity in 2003 in order
to give to young people a real opportunity for
growth, both through education and training paths
and through the acquisition of appropriate skills focused on the future goal of an inclusion into the
world of work.
Since 2009, the school Oliver Twist opened its doors to
those who were looking for these opportunities.
At the Oliver Twist school, the attention is given to the
individual and his or her personal history.
This concept is the guiding principle for the construction
of a personalized and tailored study program suited to the
needs and the specific training of each student; including,
the active involvement of the family. The consistent presence of a tutor in class is a constant reference for the students. A strong emphasis is given to the students’ study
orientation, made through constant re-motivation and an
assessment of personal skills. The cultural study is provided by workshops, meetings with professional workers,
various field trips, and movies.
. A TEACHING
No more classrooms but shops, or places where the study is combined with the practice, where students can learn
from experience, where teachers become masters and where they teach entrepreneurship and artisan skills. It is a
school where research excellence is part of the teaching method, where learning happens through the school-work
relationship, with internships and exams directly in the companies. Cometa has modern workshops, where students learn English by studying History and Science (these lectures are taught in the English language).
The courses of the School Oliver Twist fulfill the Italian education requirements and is open to children who have
completed the Licenza media (Junior High), issuing qualifications (3 years) and professional degrees (4 years),
with the possibility of completing the fifth year and also to have access to university and public competitions. Under the new legislation, qualifications can be acquired even during the Apprenticeship stage.

OLIVER TWIST SCHOOL
Learn from experience
. A TECHNOLOGY
Each classroom is equipped with interactive whiteboard multimedia and each student is provided with a tablet. Lectures,
tutorials, study sessions and tests are done
online. It is a school that speaks the language of the new generations; of the socalled “digital natives”.
The Oliver Twist school was designed according to the
most modern principles of environmental sustainability. Modern and attractive, the school has a nice facility and special attention and care is given also by the
students, because the beauty and the consciousness
of beauty are an integral part of the school’s pedagogical approach.
Its excellence is based also on its efficiency: the structure is certified by ISO 9001:2008 (quality) and ISO
14001 (environment).
