                                    Timeline of Lesson: 58 minutes

Abstract: The purpose of this lesson is to write in a clear and coherent manner about personal utopian
visions.
Objectives (by the end of the lesson students will be able to…)
     • Write persuasively.
     • Write with a clear and coherent focus.

Standards Addressed:
Standard 19:
Writing – Students will write with a clear focus, coherent organization, and sufficient detail.
Standard 20:
Consideration of Audience and Purpose – Students will write for different audiences and
purposes.


Guiding Question:
   • Is North Adams a utopia?
   • What would you do to North Adams to make it into your utopia?
   • What are some problems in our society?
   • How would you solve or eliminate those problems in your utopia?

Procedure:
       10:52 – 10:59 – Water plants
                    Remind them to spray it four times at most.
       11:00 – 11:10 – Review project assignment sheet
                    Explain what the project will be graded on.
                    Due for period E Friday, and for period D Thursday at the beginning of the
                       period.
                    Answer any questions
       11:10 – 11:40 – Work on projects
                    Walk around and help students individually.
       11:40 – 11:49 – Save work and shut down laptops
                    Make sure that all laptops are returned.
Assessment:
   • Monday, May 4th Students will have their projects displayed.
   • Students will go around to each project and then write down which utopia they would like to be
       apart of.
   • All projects will be graded according to four Focus Correction Areas.(See Create Your Own
       Utopia assignment sheet)
