might write to parents/ siblings/ friends?
 Write a for or against letter to the Prime Minister about
evacuation.

 Work in pairs to plan their adverts and brainstorm
information to include.

1920’s and one current. Class discussion about how
advertising has changed over time and how it may look
in the future.

 Children identify the features of adverts: quotes/ facts
and statistics/ feel good messages/ comparison with
other areas etc.
 Using plans made the previous lesson, children create
their advert in pairs.
Lesson 3  To study the
architecture of
the pavilion and
understand the
historical
context.
 To use paper
mache to create
a sculpture of
the pavilion and
decorate.
 For homework, set the previous lesson, children bring in
materials from home to use for the sculpture.
 Children create a sculpture of the pavilion using a range
of materials such as cerealpackaging, ballons (paper
mache) and newspaper.
 Once the sculptures are made, children present to the rest
of the class and explain how they designed and created
their models.

What makes an advert effective?  Children think in pairs about adverts they have seen out and about or on the TV – what did they notice?  Work in pairs to plan their adverts and brainstorm information to include. Lesson 3  To study the architecture of the pavilion and understand the historical context.  To use paper mache to create a sculpture of the pavilion and decorate.  For homework, set the previous lesson, children bring in materials from home to use for the sculpture.  Children create a sculpture of the pavilion using a range of materials such as cerealpackaging, ballons (paper mache) and newspaper.  Once the sculptures are made, children present to the rest of the class and explain how they designed and created their models.
