On 27th July 2010 Ofqual briefed MPs on the summer examinations season and the work being done to maintain standards. The briefing was designed to ensure that MPs have up-to-date information on the qualifications system and the work being done to ensure that results awarded to candidates are fair and consistent. Information was also provided on changes to qualifications this year and the support available to candidates once they have received their results.

Ofqual’s work on quality of marking
Ofqual is taking steps to improve the quality of marking for GCSE and A-level exams in response to increasing rates of grade changes from enquiries about results. Actions include requiring more detailed data from exam boards, overhauling the enquiries and appeals systems, developing standardized quality indicators, researching best practices for mark scheme design, upgrading exam boards' action plans, improving monitoring of markers, and evaluating marker training effectiveness. Changes will be implemented between 2015 and 2017.

Malpractice - lessons learned - ncfe presentation

Malpractice and maladministration

Standard Bearing: A new look at Standards
