Implemented AI in Some Form
January 21, 2019 article
The number of enterprises implementing
artificial intelligence (AI) grew 270% in the past
four years and tripled in the past year, according
to the Gartner, Inc. 2019 CIO Survey. Results
showed that organizations across all industries
use AI in a variety of applications, but struggle
with acute talent shortages.
Six of our 15 emerging jobs are related in some
way to AI. Five of the jobs have machine
learning as a top skill, while four others call
for mastery of Python, a programming code

Massive skills shortage
Demand has outpaced supply
● An estimated 2.3M people are needed
to fill the global AI talent pool. However,
there are only 300K current global AI
researchers and practitioners
● That knowledge of AI tools and
concepts, combined with practical
experience, is a priority for many
recruiters
● Growing disparity between the hiring
power of companies and the present
scarcity of AI talent has big implications
As the democratization of AI and deep
learning applications expands—possible not
just for tech giants but now viable for small-
and medium-sized businesses—the demand
for AI professionals to do the work has
ballooned as well.
