The DYK (Did you know) for DIY. WordPress can be a great platform for anyone to create a website. It’s easy to install and and create content with. But what about all the other “stuff” you eventually realize you should know? Domains, hosting, themes, plugins, best practices….is your head swirling yet? This talk will cover things people say they wish they knew when they started.
If you’re a creative or technical professional, odds are you need a great portfolio website. What makes a good portfolio? What if you’re a writer, or a developer, and don’t have a lot of visual work to show? We’ll go over how to navigate the intimidating world of personal portfolio websites, using WordPress as our guide.
This is the presentation I gave to Haltech on WordPress 102. I gave a previous talk in January on 101. This builds on that knowledge, and gets you making decisions, like hosting, themes, plugins and who to hire!
Web Site 101 was a presentation by Eric J. Gruber to a group who knew practically nothing about how to get a web site online. I hope you find it useful.
