This program aims to impact communities and schools in both Africa and the UK, as well as teachers and students, through durable links between schools, corporate engagement, and reciprocal professional development opportunities. Sustainability is fostered through training local teachers, philanthropy, and having students fundraise for future projects rather than themselves.

DREAM 2017 | Faculty as Drivers of College Reform Efforts
Three of Achieving the Dream’s funded learning initiatives – the Open Education Resources Degree Initiative, Engaging Adjunct Faculty Initiative, and InSpark Network-- are creating faculty led teams to drive curriculum and pedagogy reform and to engage a wider swath of faculty – both full and part time, in institution wide reform efforts.
During this workshop, participants:
* Learned about strategies these colleges are using to give faculty greater ownership of the completion agenda.
* Completed a readiness survey to assess their college’s current policies and practices for engaging faculty in institution-wide reform work
* Developed a draft plan for engaging more faculty in reform efforts at their campuses

The Manchester College is committed to sustainability through its educational programs and campus operations. It has over 40,000 learners across 14 campuses totaling over 100,000 square meters. One project showed how a small investment and group effort can achieve impactful results. Students from various programs came together to transform a scrap land area into a garden oasis using recycled materials. The garden provides learners hands-on skills development, pride in their work, and a place for counseling. It has also improved campus environment and engaged even challenging students in learning. The college aims to continue expanding such cross-curricular, real-world projects to support learners' holistic development.
State of the College 2011

Evolution of Digital Storytelling at Mercy College
Mercy College began exploring the use of digital storytelling (DS) in 2010 through a faculty learning community focused on critical inquiry. Faculty learned about DS through workshops and training, seeing its potential to empower students' voices and address learning outcomes. An initial pilot with freshman seminar courses was successful, leading to more faculty adopting DS and presenting on their experiences. While scaling DS campus-wide faced challenges like resources and support, its early successes helped gain administrative backing and spread adoption across departments.

- 13. • Background of the Grant • Our process • Our application In the 2016 grant period, each Active Learning Center grant covers the furniture, integrated technology, design, installation and post-occupancy measurement tool for one of four classroom types designed for 24-32 students. Eligible academic institutions are ones that focus primarily on formal, instructor-led learning in a designated classroom in the United States, Canada or Mexico, serving grades 6 – 12 or within a college or university. Grants are valued at $62,000, plus all of the innovation and inspiration born of active learning.

Campus Active Learning Philosophy USM instructors facilitate the creation of a student learner centered environment through creative active learning curriculum strategies that increase student and social learning, collaboration, critical thinking skills, knowledge creation, creativity, and experimentation.
