Amanda Taylor gave a presentation on supporting breastfeeding normalization. She discussed the many benefits of breastfeeding for both babies and mothers, including easier digestion, protection from illness, higher IQ, lower risks of obesity and SIDS for babies, as well as weight loss and reduced cancer risks for mothers. However, only 16.4% of American mothers exclusively breastfeed for the recommended six months, due to various barriers like returning to work, heavy formula marketing, and social stigma. Taylor advocated for supporting breastfeeding mothers and getting the facts that breastfeeding is best for infant and maternal health.
