Breakfast Biscuits with Ham
Ingredients¼ 	oz. dry yeast½ 	cup warm water2 	cups buttermilk5 ½ 	cups flour¼ 	cup sugar1 ½ 	tbsp. baking powder1 ½ 	tsp. salt½ 	tsp. baking soda¾ 	cup shortening2 	pounds sliced ham
Combine yeast and water, let stand for 5 minutes.
Stir in buttermilk.
Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda in a large bowl.
Cut in shortening with 2 forks until mixture resembles coarse meal.
Add buttermilk mixture…
…stir with fork until dry ingredients are moistened.
Turn dough out onto well-floured surface…
…knead 4-5 times…
Roll dough to ½ inch thickness …
…use a cup or glass to cut 2 inch circles…
…place on lightly greased baking sheet…
…cover and let rise in a warm place, 1 hour…
