This editorial discusses the risks of Brazilian butt lift procedures: 1) They are the deadliest aesthetic procedures, with 1 in 3000 patients dying from a fat embolism caused by injecting fat into the buttocks. 2) Most of the 33 reported deaths have been attributed to unqualified doctors performing the procedures, though underreporting is likely. 3) Other risks include sepsis, gangrene, and in rare cases lymphoma from breast implants used in butt augmentations. 4) The risks of butt augmentations outweigh the benefits, as enhancing the brain is preferable to enhancing the buttocks.
