this document serve as a valuable tool for ensuring
that a clear and consistent presentation of the Luminex
brand identity is sustained throughout all forms of
communication . Strictly following these standards and
guidelines is paramount to promoting, advancing and

5. Corporate Logo
The Luminex® corporate logo must be used on all

Proper Usage of the Logo
All logo artwork/files will be provided to you by the
Luminex Marketing Department . With the exception
of size, this artwork should not be altered in any way,
recreated or scanned in from another document .
Available File Formats
Luminex anticipates that the corporate logo will be
used in different media – web sites, signage, or
corporate collateral . As a result, the following file
formats are available:
• EPS. This is the most popular and recommended
format because it is resolution independent and
scales well . It should be used for any collateral
that is to be printed – either commercially or from
a desktop printer .
• JPEG. This format is preferred for PowerPoint
and other computer-based presentations . A majority
of programs will read JPEGs, but is not intended for
high-quality reproduction . Scaling of JPEGs is not
encouraged .

9. xMAP® University Logo Usage
The Luminex® xMAP University logo should be used in
its full color configuration . The “spelled out” version of
the logo may be used alone . However, do not combine
the logos; when using the “XU” logo, use the typeface
descriptor as shown .

xMAP® Technology
Multiplexing solutions from Luminex and our partners
are based on the xMAP Technology platform . xMAP
Technology is ideally suited to a range of applications
throughout the drug discover and diagnostic markets, as T E C H N O L O G Y

built on proven, existing technology — flow cytometry,
microspheres, lasers, digital signal processing and
traditional chemistry — that have been combined in
a unique way . Featuring a flexible, open-architecture
design, xMAP Technology can be configured to perform
a wide variety of bioassays quickly, cost-effectively and
accurately .

xTAG® Technology
Genetic tests from Luminex are based on xTAG
Technology, which utilizes a proprietary universal
tag system that allows easy optimization, product
development and expansion of molecular diagnostic
assays . Luminex xTAG products provide accurate,
flexible, low cost microarrays, combining any set
of 100 single DNA tests and multiplexing them
simultaneously in a single reaction . xTAG products
are conducted on the Luminex xMAP system, which
uses lasers to read color-coded microspheres that
attach to specific nucleic acid sequences . xTAG was
formerly known as TAG-IT from Tm Bioscience .
The xTAG logo should be used when referencing
genetic tests from Luminex Molecular Diagnostics
(LMD) (i .e ., CF, RVP, p450) .

11. xMAP® Technology Medallion
The xMAP medallion logo must be used in media
where Luminex® xMAP Technology is incorporated into
the product with text or images, and any of the following
are mentioned:
• Multiplex (or other forms of this word – i .e .
multiparameter, multiplexing, multiple tests,
bead array, etc .)
• Microspheres (or other similar reference to
the microspheres – i .e . beads)
• xMAP
• Luminex
Proper Usage of the Logos

12. xMAP® Technology Medallion – Print Usage
The xMAP Technology medallion can be effectively
incorporated into a partners’ awareness campaigns
without detracting from the partner branding . In an effort
to create consistency, these guidelines primarily focus
around the use of the xMAP medallion, pictured right .
This medallion is the cornerstone of these branding
guidelines . Four-color medallion
The xMAP medallion is to be used in all types of
media .
There are two versions of the logo medallion . The
number of colors should be consistent with the colors
in the application (i .e . four-color, two-color [see page 5],
or black and white) . The four-color version of the
medallion is always preferred, but in situations where
color cannot be used, the black and white version is Black and white medallion
acceptable .

13. xMAP® Technology Medallion Usage
Background color
It is acceptable to place the medallion on a white,
black or color background . Avoid placing the medallion
on a background where the logo would not be legible .
Area of isolation
The space around the medallion shall be equal to the
height of the “x” in xMAP .
Size of logo
The minimum size of the medallion in all print
shall be 1 .5” wide . If you encounter a size restraint,
please contact the Marketing Department at
Luminex® (512 .219 .8020) for instruction .

14. xMAP® Technology Medallion
When placing the xMAP trademark on OEM
products, use the 4-color xMAP medallion to the
right . The minimum width of the logo should be 1 .5” .
The xMAP medallion shall be permanently imprinted
onto the front of the product (or on the same side of
the product as the OEM’s name) unless otherwise 4-color xMAP medallion
approved in writing by Luminex® . The OEM’s name can
be more prominent than the xMAP logo .
Color usage of the xMAP medallion can be displayed
in one, two, or four colors . Color usage should be
consistent with the items on the product . For 2-color
usage, the logo prints black and red (PMS 185) .
If your company’s logo is smaller than the xMAP
medallion, please contact the Marketing Department
at Luminex (512 .219 .8020) for instructions on using 2-color xMAP medallion

20. Photography
Primary Imagery
In order to achieve maximum flexibility with marketing
communications, a chosen library of images has been
selected . However, when using photographic images,
please adhere to the following criteria:
• Images should have a warm, personable feel, or
should be relevant to the subject .
• Use imagery incorporating realistic lighting . Do
not use images with high saturated color and/or
dramatic lighting .
• Subjects should look as if they are conducting
business at hand . They can have simple, pleasant
expressions, but do not use images where subjects
are overly animated .
For printed materials, images need to be at 300 dpi and
converted to CMYK .
