Bob the Builder™ Comes to Life at
Museum of Nature & Science
Opening Sept. 24 Blockbuster Cartoon Show Becomes a
Hands-On Exhibit
DALLAS (Sept. 23, 2011) – Can We Build It?™ Yes We Can! – It’s the catchphrase
known to millions of adoring children who watch the wildly popular television show Bob
the Builder™. This fall, much to the pleasure of children all over Dallas, Bob the
Builder comes to life in the form of a colorful, engaging, highly interactive exhibit Bob
the Builder™- Project: Build It! that opens Sept. 24 at the Museum of Nature & Science
in Fair Park.
Bob, an upbeat cartoon handyman, and his Can-Do Crew of friends and machines
appear in kid-sized, three-dimensional figures that will lead children through various
tasks, projects and missions. Bob the Builder – Project: Build It! fosters creativity and
coordination through open-ended, discovery-based activities. Visitors will manipulate
tools, build, explore and role-play – all while learning about teamwork, construction and
conservation.
“Bob the Builder – Project: Build It! is a wonderful exhibit for families with young

children,” says Steve Hinkley, director of education for the Museum of Nature &
Science. “The exhibit provides a great contextual experience for learning about what
builders do, and allows children to become builders themselves. Parents will enjoy
watching their children work on plumbing fixtures, explore the world of plumbing and
tools, and construct their own creations out of LEGO®s.”
Visitors to the exhibit will engage with recreations of Bob and his Can-Do Crew,
including such popular characters as Wendy, Scoop, Muck and Scrambler - all of which
provide wonderful photo opportunities. Bob’s Mobile Home is also a focal point.
Children can help fix the drip coming from the sink while exploring their favorite
builder’s “real life” home and watch video clips from the show.
Other activities in Bob the Builder – Project: Build It! include building sleep stalls
for Bob’s machine friends, climbing aboard kid-sized equipment, communicating with
their favorite characters through Talkie-Talkie and decorating Wendy’s caravan.
Conservation is also a key theme of the experience, and children will explore an
interactive water pump station and help Farmer Pickles bring water to Sunflower Valley.
Admission to Bob the Builder - Project: Build It! is free with the purchase of a
general admission ticket to the Museum of Nature & Science. Regular general exhibit
admission is $10 for adults 18-61; $9 for seniors 62+ and students 12-17; $7 for children
