Bob Marley was a Jamaican musician and songwriter born in 1945 who died of cancer in 1981 at age 36. As a mixed-race child he endured ridicule but later showed indifference to his racial mix and identified as black. Some of his most famous songs include "I Shot the Sheriff", "No Woman, No Cry", and "Three Little Birds". His 1984 compilation album Legend became reggae's best-selling album of all time, selling over 20 million copies worldwide.
