Cultural Racism Analysis
As a whole the United States takes cultural racism to another level, I think. I feel like many parts of the world have displays of one culture overthrowing another but those places are not claiming to be a melting pot as the U.S. does. Our people come from all walks of life from around the globe. I think this touches on removing one s ability to practice their religion by wearing certain religious garb. It touches on the languages that are spoken or not spoken any longer. The native people who were first in the U.S. felt it, being viewed as savage they were taught the civil way of life. Buying and selling of black African people along with stripping all human dignity from them, their names were also changed. Uproar about fast food menus being

An Introduction Of Cell Biology
Introduction to Cell Biology
A Cell is the smallest structural and functional unit of an organism and consists of cytoplasm and a nucleus enclosed in a membrane
A Prokaryotic Cell are cells without a membrane bound nucleus. An example of a prokaryotic cell is bacteria.
A Eukaryotic Cell does have a membrane bound nucleus, making it different from a Prokaryotic Cell. The Nucleus contains genetic material and is surrounded by a nuclear envelope. An example is an animal cell.
Both types of cells contain organelles, each with a specific function. Plant and animals cells both contain a nucleus, cell membrane, cytoplasm and mitochondria. What defines the two cells is the plant cell also contains a rigid cell wall, a permanent vacuole and chloroplasts. The Nucleus contains genetic material and controls how the cell operates. The Cell surface membrane, or plasma, surrounds the cell and controls what enters and leaves. Membranes are said to divide up the cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells. The Cytoskeleton, which is made up of microtubules and microfilaments, moves the cytoplasm during cell migrations. Mitochondria is where aerobic respiration is performed. Protein synthesis happens in the Ribosomes. In terms of the plant cell, the Rigid Cell Wall strengthens the cell and helps maintain the structure. The Chloroplasts contain chlorophyll, which absorbs light for a plant to perform photosynthesis. The Permanent Vacuole is filled with sap and keeps the cell turgid.
A Eukaryotic cell has

Family Crucible Family Systems Theory
Introduction
This paper will use the book The Family Crucible to demonstrate the authors family systems approach to therapy. Narrative theory is compared and contrasted with family systems theory, and is ultimately integrated into my own theoretical foundation for practice as a social worker.
Family Systems Therapy
In The Family Crucible, Augustus Napier and Carl Whitaker s form of therapy was strongly influenced by family systems theory, a burgeoning theory of the time. General systems theory examines relationships between elements that constitute a whole (Andreae, 2011, p. 243). When applied to families, this theory views the family as an emotional unit and uses systems thinking to describe the complex interactions in the unit (The...show more content...91).
Narrative Therapy Family systems therapy has some interesting comparisons to make with narrative therapy. They are each commonly used in work with families. According to Kelly, narrative theory adopts a postmodern social constructionist lens (p. 316). Family systems theory originates from organismic biology and early psychoanalytic, behaviorism, and learning theories (Andreae, 2011, p. 244 245). Although these are very different theories, each emphasizes environmental factors and influences on behavior. With family systems theory, all members in the family unit must coexist with each other and other environments such as work, school, church, institutions, etc. (p. 247).
They also each place little emphasis on diagnosis within the medical model. Within narrative therapy, Michael White argues that diagnoses are totalizing techniques that actually maintain rather than solve the problems of

Cultural Impact of Hinduism in India Essay
Cultural Impact of Hinduism in India
Huge population, pollution, peace, snakes, saris, dance, curry, and religion are probably the most popular words that come up when we think about India. India is a well known country. Although it is a relatively poor country, it has a rich and diverse culture. India is populated by approximately 953 million people. It has been a home for many religions, including Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Jainism, Islam and Christianity. The first four mentioned above originated in India (Finegan 151). Seventy percent of the populations are Hindus. In fact, Hinduism is the oldest and third largest religion in the world. Hinduism has been in India forever. Nobody knows exactly how this religion started. P.N. Chopra notes in his Religions and Communities of India that India is a hallowed and sacred land for Hindus (17). It has been in India for thousands of years. It started somewhere between 4000 and 2200 BCE, in the civilization of the Indus Valley. In one of the places where the civilization of the world started, the Mahenjo Daro and Harappa, which was laid along the Indus valley gave so many evidences about the existence of this religion. The archeologists have found the three faced god on the Indus seal is similar to the god Siva that is very foremost in Hinduism until today (Finegan 49). They also found some metal sculpt

Peace In Judaism
Peace is a complex, multifaceted concept that is immensely central to every religious community. Peace is the essence of all religions, the reason being that the objectives of religion can never be fulfilled without peace. Each religion shares a similar purpose, to guide their adherents to achieving peace through spiritual development and growth, allowing enlightenment among individuals and creation.
The idea of peace is commonly categorised into two main branches, inner peace and world peace. Jewish adherents are encouraged to live out shalom and implement actions and practices of shalom into their lives where possible. Jews draw inspiration from the sacred texts, especially focused on the Torah, of their tradition for their understanding of what it is to lead purposeful and peaceful lives. The Torah acts as a guide to shining light on peace and what it means to be in a state of shalom. Peace, according to the Jewish sages, is the ultimate purpose of the whole Torah, as ex

Methods to Reduce Air Pollution Essay
Methods to Reduce Air Pollution
Air pollution is nothing new. Ever since the discovery of fire, less than desirable substances have been vented into the air. One of the first air pollution regulations dates back to the fourteenth century, when King Edward I banned the burning of sea coal in lime kilns. U.S. air pollution regulations have their roots in British Common Law. But regardless of those efforts, air pollution continues to be a serious local and world wide problem. Pollution is the pressure within the air of one or more substances that are harmful to human health, welfare, animal or plant life, or property. In the past with air pollution we included mainly the outdoor pollutants, although in recent years this is not the case....show more content...All these particles are mainly products of combustion. The major sources include industrial processes, power plants that are both coal and oil fired, residential heating, and transportation. But coal burning is the greatest source.

Divergent Argument Essay
As for Divergent, the society is divided into five factions which divides citizens through an aptitude test: Abnegation the selfless one, Candor the honest, Dauntless the brave, and Erudite the intelligent.

Could You Be Loved is another song written by Bob Marley after he witnessed the terrible Jamaican school system, people living in poverty which
caused the oppression of both the Jamaican and African people. Bob Marley wanted the world to know about the educational injustice taking
place in The Jamaican School System. This is one of the many messages Bob Marley tried to spread across in this song. He sang of how many
children could not afford to go to school because of certain rules preventing them. In the line," Don't let them fool you or even try to school you"
Marley is writing about how the Jamaican school systems have a policy that says shoes must be worn in school. Many families in Jamaica cannot

Of the many genres of music, reggae is one that displays a positive message to its listeners. A prominent artist who clearly expressed this was Robert

In Jamaica, Marley could voice the feelings and opinions of his fellow citizens, who were delusional with the failures of independence and the
breakdown of local politics. The role of music in Jamaica contributed to Marley?s music. It helped play an important role in giving voice and
communicating with an increasingly important political class in the evolving country. Undoubtedly, he was favored by both sides of the politic battle
in Jamaica and with many other nations around the world. Marley avoided direct involvement in politics, because the Rastafarian people believe that
activities like that were essentially invalid manifestations of the work of higher government authorities against which they believed. One of the original
reasons behind Bob Marley?s emergence as a leader within postâindependent Jamaica was simple: the complete failure of the country?s political
leaders to represent the needs of the black lower classes in the years before and after their independence. By staying away from the malevolent
competitive battles of the actual and possible political leaders, he could attract a group of followers that others could not amass. ?As former Jamaican
prime minister Michael Manley has noted, ?Marley took what was a subculture in Jamaica and elevated it to a dominant culture?[He] took a folk art
and he elevated it into a universal language of communication.? Perhaps the expansion of black culture was even more important than political

Bob Marley Bio) It's difficult to
properly understand Bob Marley's music without considering Rastafari. His spiritual beliefs are too well known to necessitate further explanation.
It must be stated, however, that Rastafari is at the very center of the Wailers' music. His music and lyrics worked as the rhetoric of the Rastafarian
movement against oppression, exploitation and racism in Jamaica. Using metaphors to describe the hardships of the political fights of Jamaicans
and Africans Marley established himself as the spokesman of a race and culture. The Rastafari religion, the heart of Bob's music, based itself in
belief of 'Jah,' which was a metaphor for a god of goodness and love. Jah was the force fighting against the oppression from 'Babylon,' the destructive
force.(Hot shot rock tributes) Metaphors of oppression and freedom, such as chains and birds, depict social problems and ways of liberation (Jensen).
Many of Marley's lyrics included these references and therefore fell into the latitude

spoke to his people through his songs and took advantage of the opportunities given to him as a musician.
Born on February 6, 1945, Robert Nesta Marley grew up in a small village in Jamaica called Nine Miles, where he would shape his personality and
early beliefs. His father Norval Marley, a white Jamaican and a Captain in the Army, would also become inspirational to young Bob. When Bob was

He found Aston an accomplished bass player, Carlton to play the drums and he brought in a trio of female back up vocalists called the IâThrees, one
of whom would eventually become his wife Rita.
In Jamaica at the time Bob was viewed as a mystic and prophet, and was becoming the symbol for a nation. Seeking reâelection the Prime Minister
asked Bob Marley to stage a free concert on the same day as the National election, trying to lock up the support of the Marley followers and in turn the
election. This move however resulted in an attempt to end Marley's life.
On the evening of December 3, a number of gunmen arrived at Bob's house on 56 Hope Road and shot Bob, his wife Rita, and his manager. The
gunmen were thought to be the henchmen of the opposition leader Edward Seaga. Luckily nobody was killed and Bob went ahead with the planned
concert rebelliously appearing with his arm in a sling. The following year during a massive European concert Bob Marley was diagnosed with
melanoma cancer in his big toe, the result of a neglected football injury.
Later in Jamaica, Bob once again received a request from the political leaders to perform a peace concert in his native land. Not phased by earlier
tragedy he agreed and assembled one of the greatest concerts ever, the One Love peace concert. Here was where he made history when leaders from

This was the first time a reggae band had ever had access to premium recording facility. They worked hard knowing this was their big chance and
released the album "Catch Fire", which did extremely well and was one of the first reggae albums as of before it was sold on singles or compilation

In the spring of 1973 the Wailers returned to London to start their first three month tour of Britain. When they returned to Jamaica, Bunny decided to
quit touring and was replaced by Joe Higgs. The Wailers then traveled to the US where they were to open 17 shows for a black act. They were fired
after 4 because the people came to see the Wailers and not the act. The crowds would often chant "Wailers" throughout. They once again found
themselves without any money and method home, but this time in Las Vegas. They eventually stumbled into San Francisco and while there they did a
live concert broadcast for a very popular radio station. This further boosted their popularity in North America.

In a time of political, economic, and social unrest, a new way of protest was beginning to emerge from Jamaica in the form of reggae music. It was
1963 when a young man from Jamaica by the name of Robert Nesta Marley, better known as "Bob Marley", formed a band called The Wailers, who
would undoubtedly become one of the only reggae bands to rise up from the oppression of the third world country. The country of Jamaica had just
gained independence from the U.K. in 1962, but was anything but a free nation. Those in power chose to exploit the country's few main exports,
primarily bauxite, a mineral used in the process of manufacturing aluminum. The first ten years of Jamaican independence saw considerable economic
growth, but these...show more content...
So the Jamaican sound systems, mobile devices such as vans or musical equipment on wheels, would be used to host dances, and the deejays
would also use their sound systems to inform his listeners on political happenings. King states that, "As one of the few affordable social activities
for the poor, the sound system brought music to places where the voice of the poor could be heard without interference by local authorities" (16).
Like most of the world during this time, the black population was not allowed any political power, and many began to seek ways to resist. One of
the methods used as a means to passively fight back against the imbalance was the Rastafarian religion. The Rastafarian religion was born early in
the twentieth century, but its roots date back as far as the late 1800's when slaves felt compelled to revolt against the plantation owners on the belief
that God was calling them to fight for freedom. In 1927, a man named Marcus Garvey brought forth to Jamaicans the basis of the Rastafarian
religion, which was to look to Africa for the crowning of a king. This would be a sign for Jamaica that freedom is near. From Africana, the
Encyclopedia of the African and the AfricanâAmerican Experience, author Roanne Edwards quotes Garvey: "Look to Africa for the crowning of a
king to know that your redemption is nigh" (Edwards 1592). In 1930 Ras Tafari was crowned emperor of Ethiopia and baptized with the name Haile
Selassie.
