3. Introduction
• Human brain is the most valuable creation of god.
• The man is called intelligent because of the
brain, but we lose the knowledge of a brain
when the body is destroyed after the death.
4. Virtual Brain
• A machine that can function as brain , can take decision , can think , can
respond and can keep things in memory.
WHY WE NEED VIRTUAL BRAIN
• To upload contents of natural brain into it.
• To keep intelligence, knowledge and skill of any person forever.
• To remember things without effort.
5. • This can be done using reverse engineering techniques on human brain
so functioning of brain can be understood.
6. Function of brain
1. Sensory Input:- Receiving input such as sound, image, etc through
sensory cell.
2. Interpretation:- Interpretation of the received input by brain by
defining states of neurons in the brain.
3. Motor Output:- Receiving of electric responses from the brain to
perform any action.
7. Blue Brain
• The IBM is developing a virtual brain known as BLUE BRAIN.
• It would the world’s first virtual brain.
Examples of blue brain:
1. A very good example of utilization of blue
brain is the case of “short term memory loss”.
8. Example
• Another situation is that when a person gets older, then he starts
forgetting or takes a bit more time to recognize a person.
• For the above reason we need a blue brain. It is a simple chip that can
be installed in to the human brain for which the short term memory and
volatile memory at the old age can be avoided.
9. Advantages of Blue Brain
• Things could be remembered without any effort.
• Use of intelligence of the person after death.
• It can make decisions entirely of its own.
• Improves in processing, speed and memory could make entire human
brain simulated.
• Allowing the deaf to hear via direct nerve simulation.
• The knowledge and memories of great personalities can be stored
forever in form of virtual brain.
10. Disadvantages
• We depend on computers.
• Information stored can be vulnerable and can be manipulated or
misused by hackers.
• A very costly procedure of regaining the memory back.
• Possibility of human cloning.
11. Objective
Main objective behind Artificial brain is to establish a connection in
between human brain and artificial brain so that machine can work like a
human brain and important content of humans like knowledge, feelings,
memories of a person be downloaded to artificial brain by applying high
computational algorithms using supercomputers with large storage
facilities which can be used forever for different purposes until erased.
The artificial brain can also be used in research of treatment for diseases
like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.
12. How is this possible?
• The information is uploaded from human brain to supercomputers using
a small robots called as “nanobots”.
• They are too small that they can enter spine and central nervous
system. Then after entering brain, nanobots starts scanning and
monitoring structure of neurons.
13. Blue Brain Technology
• The Blue brain project was initially found on May 2005 at Brain and
mind institute named EPFL in Switzerland that specializes in natural
sciences and engineering.
• The blue brain is using a supercomputer which was created by IBM
called as “Blue Gene” which runs software developed by Michael
Hines’s and John Moore named “NEURON”, a simulation environment
which models network of neurons in human brain.
• It’s been said that by 2023 project will be launched officially.
14. Blue Brain Power
Blue Brain will reveal many existing
aspects of the brain circuits, memory
capacity and how memories are lost.
The blue brain model can be used to
detect and test treatment strategies
for neurological diseases.
15. Applications
• Gathering and testing 100 years of data.
• Cracking the neural code.
• A Novel tool for Drug Discovery for Brain Disorder.
• A Foundation of whole brain simulations.
16. Closing thoughts
Very soon this technology will be highly
accepted over the world.
“Technology does not create Brain
but Brain creates Technology.”
We will be able to transfer ourselves
in to computers at some point .
