The Blue Footed Bubi is a small penguin-like seabird found off the coast of the Galapagos Islands. It has blue feet and a white and brown head, along with a long beak and tail. To appear larger when threatened, it spreads its wings and tail. It lives near the sea and islands, diving in schools of fish to feed. The male and female work together to care for their 1-3 eggs over 8 months, only feeding the largest chick to increase its chances of survival, as frigate birds and hawks prey on the young. Females select mates based on the brightness of the male's blue feet.
