This document discusses how a librarian (Teresa Wells) and teacher (Valerie Kuykendall) collaborated to incorporate blogs and wikis into a 5th grade Civil War unit. Initially skeptical, Valerie came to see the benefits as students gained technology skills by posting on the wiki and blog. While there were technical difficulties, the benefits of using Web 2.0 tools for research and student reflection outweighed the problems. Students felt blogs and wikis made the learning experience more effective and successful compared to traditional paper-based research.
