A black hole is a region in space with an intense gravitational field that prevents anything, including light, from escaping. They can vary in size, with the smallest being as tiny as an atom but having a mass comparable to a large mountain, while stellar black holes can be 20 times the mass of the sun, and supermassive black holes can exceed 1 million solar masses. The Milky Way galaxy's central black hole, Sagittarius A, has a mass of approximately 4 million suns.
