Middle children are often thought to be more rebellious and aggressive than their siblings due to feelings of being overlooked or lacking attention. However, a new study found no evidence that birth order impacts aggression levels. Researchers had middle children, firstborns, and lastborns play economic games designed to trigger aggression, and middle children did not act out more than other birth positions. The study suggests beliefs about "middle child syndrome" may be more myth than reality.
