2. • Born in Poil village, Habiganj District, Bengal state of British India.
• His father, Ram Chandra Pal, was a Persian Scholar and small landowner.
• Studied and taught at the Church Mission Society College, an affiliated college to Calcutta
University.
• He popularized the concept of Swadeshi and Swaraj through his writings and speaking tours.
• After 1920, he remained aloof from national politics but continued to contribute to Bengali
journals.
• Pal is known as ‘Father of Revolutionary Thought’ in India and was one of the freedom
fighters of India.
• He emphasized on the use of Indian goods and believed that boycott of foreign goods would
help in eradicating poverty and unemployment.
• He didn’t believe in mild form of protests like Non-Cooperation with the government.
