4. WHO BHAGAT SINGH WAS?
• Bhagat Singh was a great personality, who did a lot of effort for the entire nation
because of which he is known as an Indian revolutionary.
• There is a vital role of great Bhagat singh in Indian Independence.
• He fought against British colonial rule to save Indians.
5. • He was born in a sikh family where his father and uncles were highly courageous.
• Inspired by their courage , Bhagat Singh participated in lot of revolutionary activities
with the result of which, Indians could get free from harsh colonial rule of the british.
• He was a very bright student during his collage days who participated in the
extracurricular activities also.
• He was a great personality whose memories will never get faded from the minds and
hearts of the Indians.
• He fought a lot for Indian Independence and brought this modern India for us.
• He joined many of the revolutionary activities to fight against exploitation,
discrimination, and majority against the cruel British rule in India.
• His only motive is to save Indians from that cruelity and he made all his attempts
successful without thinking about his own life.
6. EARLY LIFE OF BHAGAT SINGH
• Born in sikh family of Chauka Banga of Lyallpur District of Punjab in 28 September
1907 as a third son of Kishan Singh and Vidhyavathi kaur.
• He was a nephew of famous ajith singh
• During the time of his birth father and his uncle ajith singh were released from the jail.
• So family members named him as Bhagat Singh.
• Bhagat means Bhagyavanta.
• His father and uncles were permanent members of Gaadhar party.
• He was well familiar with this revolutionary activities.
• His primary education was completed from the local village school till class 5th and then
his father enrolled him at Dayanand Anglo- Vedic high school( Arya samaj institution)
• He decided to be patriotic by getting inspired by his own uncles and father.
7. • Bhagat Singh joined the non co-operation movement at a very young age which was
started by Mahatma Ghandiji
• He dropped his collage and joined National collage at Lahore in1923
• He studied European revolutionary movements
• He joined the young revolutionary movement and started fighting against British
Government in India
• A number of hard working and prominent leaders such as Chandrashekar Azad,
shahid Ashvaqullakhan, Ramprasad Bismil were also included.
• He joined young national movement because he was unhappy with the decision of
ghandhi of withdrawing the non co-operation movement
• He would become dischanted with Ghandi’s non-violent crusade, believing that
armed conflict was the only way to political freedom
8. • In 1926 Bhagat Singh founded the ‘ naujavan bharat sabha’ ( youth society of India)
and joined the Hindusthan Republican Association , where he met severel
prominent leaders.
• The sabha was to carry out open political work among youth, peasants and workers
• Through this sabha Bhagat singh used to deliver political lectures with the help of
majic lantern slides.
• Bhagat singh and sukdev organized Lahore students union for open, legal work
among students.
• A year later, singh’s parents tried to marry him, but he rejected it
9. NATIONAL MOVEMENT AND
REVOLUTIONARY ACTIVITIES
• At the initial stage of his life, Bhagat Singh started writing articles in favour of
Indian welfare and against British rule.
• He started distributing pamplets against government so as to attract youth towards
his ideas and thoughts.
• He became quite popular
• Later he was arrested , considering as a victim of bomb case in Lahore during 1926.
• He was released after 5 months
• By this time bhagat singh became a person of intrest to the police.
• Again he was arrested in May 1927, he was arrested for being involve in bombing
the previous october
10. • In 1928, Lala Lajpat Roy started revolt against the Simon commission
• Bhagat singh joined the revolt
• When the police ordered lathi charge on the protesters , to disburse the large crowd.
• During that time Lala Lajpat Roy was injured by superindent of police James A
Scott
• Lala Lajpat Roy died two weeks later by that injury.
• To avenge his friend’s death singh and other two plotted to kill James A Scott but
they shot and killed police officer Jhon P Saunders
• Bhagat singh and his fellow conspirators decided to escape
• Bhagat singh shaved his beard along with cutting down his hair to escape himself
from getting arrested by the police
11. • In April 1929 , Bhagat singh and an associate bombed the central legislative
assembly in Delhi to protest implementation of public safety bill.
• They were not intended to kill people, they carried bomb to scare ( no one was killed
but there were some injuries.)
• they get planned to get arrested and stand trail so they could further promote their
cause.
• the actions of the young revolutionaries was strongly condemned by the followers of
Ghandhi, but Bhagat singh was delighted to have a stage on which to promote his
cause
• He offered no defence during trail but disrupted the proceedings with rants of
political dogma
12. • Through further investigation, the police discovered the connection between Bhagat
Singh and the murder of officer Saunders and he was re arrested
• While awaiting trail, he led a hunger strike in prison.
• finally he was executed on March 23 1931, with other two revolutionaries Rajguru
and Sukdev.
• Bhagat Singh had become an ideal icon for entire youths because of his hard works.
• he became louder voice to the next Indian generation
13. INSPIRATION TO BHAGAT SINGH
• Kartal Singh Saarabha :
• was the main conviener of Ghadar party.
• he was executed at very young age 19.
14. • Madan Lal Dingra
• Bhagat Singh inspired by madan lal dingras freedom struggle
• Madan Lal Dingra killed sir Curzon vally who insulted Indiansns in
London
• he was executed on august 18 1909
